Every child deserves access to quality education amidst the COVID 19 pandemic. Students face the test of answering modules much more than doing the performances in the physical education classes. One of the challenges they faced was performing different performance tasks and being able to meet the objectives as well as the learning competencies. This study aimed to determine the barriers in learning performances and students’ coping strategies in physical education in modular distance learning which was accompanied by a quantitative approach using a descriptive – survey method of research. The study was conducted in one of the secondary public schools composed of 201 selected junior high school students. Based on the result of the study, the findings were as follows: majority of the of the respondents were female, grade 9 students and 15 years of age. The barriers exprienced by the students were overthinking about their grades, minimal engagement in performance tasks due to lack of equipments and learning materials, discomfort in doing the task because of distraction at home and unstable internet connection which means it is important to assess and evaluate the learning materials provided in the module to provide accessibility to students capabilities and available materials at home. With regards to students’ coping strategies, it emphasize in developing skills and abilities even in the confinement of home because learning must continue and students have the grit to do their tasks in their modules which indicates the student's opportunities and resiliency was very important factors for the students’ learning and doing performances. To satisfy the students' needs, school leaders must incorporate real methods into their teaching and address their diversity, as well as provide a variety of instructions and learning resources, lesson exemplars, and assistance for the students. To stimulate creativity and assure excellence in educational offerings, colleagues should be given technical assistance and coaching. Professional development should be prioritized during the pandemic to improve intrinsic competencies to plan, manage, and internalize more effective service delivery.

In the transition to the delivery of instruction, game-based learning in physical education is the key to filling the instructional gap by giving each student the freedom to develop their skills in the 21st century. This study employed a qualitative research design using a phenomenological approach to acquire an in-depth understanding of students' learning experiences through game-based learning in Physical Education. Participants were chosen through purposive sampling which was participated by 7 students from the Grade 10 level in one of the secondary public schools in the Philippines. Codes and themes were transcribed in the study. Based on the research results, three themes emerged: innovative approach, the functionality of the application, and student engagement and authentic learning experience. Physical education teachers have become innovative and creative in how to deliver instruction, especially in the areas of cognitive and skills acquisition using a game-based approach. This is done to help all students to be creative and adapt to the modern learning environment. This application was practical, usable and accessible for every student both inside and outside of the classroom with offline and online features. This study will equip Physical Education teachers with clarity and a road map to the modern world. This will also provide the required support for students to shift away from traditional classroom learning and become more innovative by producing mobile apps that provide students with games and the freedom to absorb the lesson through a game-based approach.

Background: Technology plays a pivotal role in the learning and teaching process. Technology has become a powerful tool for enhancing students' performance in Physical Education. The study aims to assess the effect of video-based presentations on students' physical education learning performance. Objectives: The study aims to assess the effects of video-based presentations as an intervention tool in enhancing students' performance. Specifically, this is to answer the following objectives: (1) mean scores in the pre-test and post-test, (2) significant difference between before and after intervention, and (3) student's experiences in using video-based presentations in the learning performance in physical education. Methods: The researcher used a sequential mixed-method research design with a one-group pre-test and post-test design, which was participated by 52 students in one of the secondary schools in the Philippines and five students in the focus group discussion. Purposive sampling was used to choose the participants to assess the effect of the video-based presentations. JASP Software was used to analyze the data. Results: Based on the result, the study shows that before the intervention, students needed more knowledge and more participation in the discussion. However, utilizing the intervention indicates that the video-based presentation significantly affects students' learning performance, which shows that the video-based presentation has a positive impact on the students' learning performance. Moreover, two themes emerged in the focus group discussion: independent learning and flexible instruction. Conclusion: As education becomes man's equalizer, students must adopt 21st-century skills, and through the intervention used, this will pave the way for developing their capabilities and skills in the education trends. This implies that with the progressive world facing the ever-changing education landscape, teachers must have the desire to build their technological capabilities by upskilling and retooling their innovativeness and creativity in delivering instructions.
