Abstract

Introduction. Disaster is a series of events that can threaten and disrupt human life, caused by natural and non-natural factors. A flood disaster is a natural disaster that can occur due to extreme storms in the upper watersheds, climate change, and geomorphological conditions of soil slopes, erosion, and sediment material. Flood disasters will have an impact on the social situation, people's economy, health status and death. Method. A systematic review was conducted through several stages, namely making questions, identifying, eligibility, selecting article inclusions, screening, and appraisal. The selection process was listed in the Systematic review framework and 10 articles are obtained. Later, articles were summarized and rated according to The Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) in each article. Result&Analysis. The data shows that the results vary according to the system, and the conditions in which the study was conducted. Increasing the role of the community in flood disaster management efforts is done by increasing community knowledge, skills and experience, related to an efficient disaster management system, with several methods, namely by giving questionnaires and conducting interviews with the community or family, special training and simulations. Discussion. To increase the awareness and role of the community in managing flood disasters, several methods are applied. The simulation method is an educational effort that can be used to improve people's knowledge, skills, and experience in conducting flood management activities.

Abstract

The full condition of prisons and the lack of health service facilities can affect prisoners' health conditions. In order to maintain their health condition, it is necessary to take preventive measures, one of which is the application of good personal hygiene. In improving the compliance of prisoners in improving their health status, it is vital to perform health promotion following the theory of the Health Promotion Model (HPM). The study aimed to identify and determine the relationship between components in the Health Promotion Model and Personal Hygiene behavior in preventing scabies in prisoners. The study utilized a cross-sectional design. The study samples were all prisoners in the Penitentiary Class IIB Mojokerto, amounting to 284 respondents, and data were collected by purposive sampling technique. Data analysis in this study used the SEM-PLS technique, with three stages of analysis: 1.) outer model test, in the form of reflective and formative models, to determine the relationship between indicators and latent variables; 2.) inner model test, consisting of R-squared test (R2), effect size (f2), predictive prevalence (Q2), and Goodness of Fit test. The inner model test aims to determine the relationship between latent variables; and 3.) hypothesis testing to observe the significance value of the effect of exogenous variables on endogenous variables through the T-statistical value (more than 1.96) and p-value (less than 0.05). A total of 284 respondents met the criteria for conducting data analysis.

Abstract

Background: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) remains a major cause of death worldwide due to complications, and its incidence is fairly high and predicted to continue to rise each year. This contributes to a low quality of life and poor self-care management, necessitating an effective treatment strategy consisting of self-help group (SHG) therapy that expands social networks, receives information, and receives emotional support from group members in order to provide numerous benefits. The purpose of this study was to assess if community-based self-help group interventions improve the quality of life and self-care management of individuals with T2DM. Methods: This study employed a Quasi-experiment non-equivalent control group pre-test and post-test design with a self-help group intervention (n=30) for one month. The sample was selected using the approach of purposive selection with the following inclusion criteria: age between 40 and 65 years, T2DM experience between 3 and 5 years, and the ability to converse, read, and write effectively. Statistical paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test were used to assess the data. Results: In both groups, self-care management, quality of life, and blood glucose levels at baseline were comparable. After one month of intervention, self-care management, quality of life, and blood glucose levels were significantly better in the intervention group than in the control group (p<0.05). Conclusion: In this study, the self-care management and quality of life of individuals with T2DM improved following SHG intervention. Integrating public health effort with an interpersonal collaboration approach will provide an optimal integrated contribution to resolving chronic deseases.

Abstract

Metabolic syndrome (MetS) generally occurs in adults and becomes more prevalent with age. Most e-health tools are often described as web-based platforms or applications designed for the general public, rather than specifically for MetS patients. Mobile applications, however, have great potential in providing internet-based health education and supporting the self-management of MetS patients, particularly in diet management and physical activity. This study aimed to synthesize the findings on the impact of mobile app interventions in enhancing self-management practices among MetS patients. A comprehensive literature search covering the years 2019 to 2023 was conducted across Science Direct, ProQuest, and PubMed databases. From 16,628 articles analyzed, 11 were selected for review. The interventions were categorized into short-term (> 12 months) and long-term (≥ 12 months). Eleven mobile applications were identified. These applications were primarily free and designed to facilitate the management of diet and physical activity. The study observed significant changes in the components of metabolic syndrome, including weight, blood pressure, waist circumference, body mass index, fasting blood sugar, triglycerides, and High-Density Lipoprotein cholesterol. Furthermore, these mobile applications demonstrated a positive impact on the lifestyle of MetS patients, influencing factors such as eating behavior, physical activity, self-efficacy, sleep quality, and sleep duration.
