Abstract

The positive paradigm of aging leads us to healthy and happy aging. Sexual well-being is one of the aspects. Elderly with hypertension are expected to exhibit adaptive behavior towards sexual changes. The SEPUCHI physical exercise, a combination of Kegel and Tai Chi exercises, is beneficial for enhancing the sexual activity of the elderly. The SEPUCHI class program is anticipated to diversify and broaden insights regarding physical exercises suitable for the elderly. This program consists of 3 sessions attended by 10 community health workers. Participants were given pre- and post-class SEPUCHI questionnaires and evaluated using assessment forms. The results indicate that all participants experienced an improvement in knowledge and were able to practice the SEPUCHI physical exercise. It is hoped that the community health workers will implement the SEPUCHI physical exercise in the elderly community health services.

Abstract

Quality of sexual life contributes to individual happiness and quality of life. However, the elderly are faced with stereotypes and myths that limit sexual life. Appropriate education about the elderly’s sexual life is expected to improve sexual quality which can then have a positive impact on the elderly’s quality of life. The role of elderly cadres, holders of elderly health programs at the Puskesmas, and caregivers is very large in increasing understanding of the importance of maintaining the elderly’s sexual activity and changing the mindset of the elderly and the community in responding to the elderly’s sexual life. JAGO PALU Support Group Training (Maintain Harmony through Increasing Elderly’s Sexual Activity) plays a role in increasing the right understanding of the elderly’s sexual activity. The service method uses virtual lectures, educational video screenings, and role-plays. Increased understanding of the sexual activity that is maintained in the elderly will improve the welfare of the elderly's sexual life which can improve the elderly’s quality of life.

Abstract

Hypertension is one of the degenerative diseases that is a priority for treatment in the elderly. In addition to optimizing the coverage of health services, improving the ability of the elderly to care for themselves at home is an equally important focus. Regular physical activity is one of the management strategies recommended by the Indonesian government. One modality that can be applied is gardening therapy, which is known to help control blood pressure and reduce anxiety. Nurses play a role in enhancing self-efficacy and the ability of the elderly to manage their blood pressure. This program aims to introduce and implement gardening therapy for the elderly with hypertension. The method used is divided into three sessions: education, sharing, and practice. The activities were carried out in May 2024. The participants included 84 elderly individuals, 5 community health workers, and 4 healthcare center staff. The evaluation of the program results showed an increase in the knowledge and skills of the target group. It is hoped that elderly individuals with hypertension can continuously implement gardening therapy at home to improve their health status
