Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the mental well-being of young remote workers in Malang City through social interactions, expectations, and self worth. As an evolving work system in Indonesia, remote work still presents challenges, both in terms of technology and social dynamics. Young employees who are in the career development stage at the age of 23-29 are often caught up in trying to achieve high productivity and maximum happiness, which sometimes triggers burnout. Through an anthropological approach with qualitative methods, this research utilises semi-structured interviews by highlighting remote employee perspectives on mental well-being and considering the values and experiences of work culture in a virtual work environment. The different experiences and definitions of well-being for young remote employees depend on their individual perspectives, backgrounds and working conditions, making the results of this study subjective. The results show that the mental well-being of remote workers cannot be separated from the Javanese social and cultural context that emphasises collective happiness. On that basis, this research is expected to contribute to the development of subjective well-being studies in the field of anthropology.

Abstract

Reproductive health is often narrowly framed around menstruation, childbirth, and pregnancy, reflecting a patriarchal view of women’s bodies as production tools. In Indonesia, public health behaviors remain below optimal standards, necessitating strategic health promotion efforts. As centers of knowledge production, universities hold significant potential to advance public health education, particularly for younger generations. One such initiative, Menuju Kampus Sejahtera, aims to disseminate reproductive health information and promote a holistic, gender-inclusive understanding. However, the content still predominantly centers on women’s health, reinforcing gendered assumptions. This research employs Michel Foucault’s theory of biopolitics to analyze how power operates through biological regulation, especially via medicalization where medical discourse is used to shape and control individual behaviors. The study uses a qualitative method with a reflexive ethnographic approach to explore how reproductive health narratives are shaped, internalized, and challenged within the university setting. Data was gathered through literature studies and in-depth interviews with students who had engaged with the HPU platform. Reflexivity and positionality were used to address ethical and interpretative dimensions, particularly when dealing with sensitive topics. By critically examining the content and framing of campus health promotion programs, the research highlights the limitations of current narratives and calls for more inclusive approaches that address reproductive health beyond traditional gender binaries. This study contributes to the sociological understanding of how health knowledge is produced, distributed, and experienced in higher education settings, and proposes a gender-transformative framework for reproductive health promotion.

Abstract

Many different elements can influence how an individual acts when it comes to seeking health care. An individual's level of health knowledge is still a significant concern in this topic. This pertains to how knowledge can help reduce misconceptions or negative perceptions while providing information about the importance of healthcare. This research focuses on the reproductive health-seeking behavior of women. Where a lack of knowledge about reproductive health can be a barrier for individuals to obtain accurate information and proper care. The study seeks to answer questions about female students' knowledge of reproductive health and how their health-seeking behavior is related to this issue. Involving diverse master's students with various socio-cultural backgrounds, the study is expected to provide a deeper understanding of knowledge and reproductive health behavior and its correlation with their education. This study conducted over approximately 4 weeks, the research utilizes various data sources such as participant observation, in-depth interviews, and literature studies supporting field findings. The study reveals the complexity of the relationship between knowledge, education, and reproductive health-seeking behaviour, especially concerning menstruation. The lack of knowledge impacts the attitudes and behaviours of informants related to menstruation. However, even when knowledge exists, it does not always reflect optimal reproductive health-seeking behavior. That’s why thus knowledge and education are considered the initial foundation of health-seeking behaviour but do not always determine decisions related to reproductive health. Keywords: reproductive health, menstruation, sex education, health-seeking behavior  ABSTRAK Banyak elemen yang berbeda dapat mempengaruhi bagaimana seseorang bertindak dalam mencari perawatan kesehatan.
