Abstract

Writing has always been beneficial for those who master it. Albeit its virtues, it is subject to investigation due to issues concerning its derisory tasks, its complexity, and its arid learning activities. Based upon the issues, this study is aimed at portraying how English teachers teach students writing recount texts by integrating Padlet into their classroom. Involving one English teacher and a class of 25 students, this study obtained the data through observation of four class meetings. The data were then analyzed qualitatively to depict thoroughly the teaching practice of the teacher as Padlet was deployed in the classroom. The analysis resulted in findings vis-à-vis the integration of Padlet and the teacher’s ways of integrating Padlet, that the integration of technology is categorized into some levels. The findings to some extent conform to previous studies that the integration of technology has been prevalent among English teaching in general. It is therefore suggested that teachers maintain the integration of technology while keep on fostering the accompanying capability of integrating it. Keywords: writing; recount texts; Padlet; technology integration; digital teaching media.

Abstract

 AbstractSpeaking is one of important aspects of language. Speaking plays an important role in transfering English speaking skill to students as well as the key to the success of teaching learning process of speaking. There are many methods or approaches used by lecturers in the classroom in teaching speaking in university, they however considered not so effective in stimulating students to be more active in speaking and to have more bravery and self confidence to use their own English although they may make more mistakes. Based on the depicted reality, the researcher feels chalenged to know how is the implementation of Community Language Learning (CLL) method, to investigate its strengths and weaknesses, as well as to find out students’ difficulties in teaching s6peaking.This research entitled The Implementation of Community Language Learning (CLL) in Teaching Speaking. This research is conducted on the second semester students of English Education Study Program who are taking Speaking For General Communication II on the second semester students at one of universities in Cianjur. This research aims to know how the implementation of CLL and to investigate its strengths and weaknesses, as well as to find out students’ difficulties in learning speaking through CLL.This research uses qualitative method which employs several techniques in collecting the data. Abstract

The intention of this article is to report one of Pejuang Muda program called Team Based Project in the form of empowering a poor family. After going through the stages of observation, interviews, and distributing questionnaires on problems to all sub-districts in the Sukabumi Regency area, it was determined that the program to be implemented by the Pejuang Muda of Sukabumi Regency was a humanitarian program in the form of provision to be given to Mrs. Kokob and Mr. Eman, a person with disabilities. The Poor Families empowerment program was implemented on the 16th of December 2021 in Darussalam Village RT 8 RW 6 Bantargadung Regency Sukabumi Regency West Java. The result shows that 1) The target of this program can be achieved properly according to planning and expectations. 2) Through this program Ibu Kokob can run a stall so that she can earn money from it for helping their daily needs. 3) The team of Pejuang Muda of Sukabumi Regency succeeded in conducting the Team Based project as one of the programs of Pejuang Muda. They were able to find the problem, set the solution, and solve the problem that occurred in the society

Abstract

The MSME population has grown rapidly after the large-scale social restriction policy was enacted. The existence of MSMEs become an alternative economic solution for the community in running the family economy which had been stopped due to the pandemic. However, of the population, only a few survive, and mostly are going bankrupt. This condition is caused by a lack of entrepreneurial concept and the inability to adapt to technological developments. This community service aims to educate one of the MSME actors in Cibokor village through repackaging, rebranding, and digital marketing strategies. This community service lasts for 4 weeks from July 26 - August 26, 2022 with the method used is entrepreneurship assistance to one of the MSME actors, who is engaged in the production of dried banana fritters, which has been running for a long time but has not experienced significant development. As a result of repackaging and rebranding, the product display has now become more attractive and elegant, meanwhile, marketing that previously only relied on conventional marketing strategies has now switched to using digital marketing through the use of social media and marketplaces.

Abstract

Gempa bumi Cianjur (21 November 2022) telah memberikan dampak luar biasa bagi kondisi emosi para siswa sekolah dasar. Tidak sedikit siswa yang merasa cemas dan tidak mau belajar di tenda sekolah darurat. Merujuk pada situasi tersebut, pendampingan pengajaran bagi siswa sekolah dasar yang direalisasikan melalui kegiatan pembelajaran bahasa berbasis literasi emosi merupakan salah satu solusinya. Kegiatan pendampingan pengajaran tersebut bertujuan untuk memulihkan dan mengoptimalkan kompetensi literasi emosi siswa dalam menghadapi bencana gempa bumi Cianjur. Kegiatan yang dilaksanakan di SDN Cibulakan dan SDN Giriharja selama 1 bulan, diwujudkan melalui tiga tahapan, yaitu: 1) persiapan pembelajaran bahasa berbasis literasi emosi, 2) implementasi pembelajaran bahasa berbasis literasi emosi, 3) evaluasi pembelajaran bahasa berbasis literasi emosi. Capaian literasi emosi siswa melalui kegiatan pembelajaran bahasa tersebut yang dianalisis berdasarkan hasil observasi serta wawancara terhadap sejumlah siswa menunjukan hasil yang cukup signifikan. Rata-rata 72% dari seluruh jumlah siswa memiliki kondisi mental yang lebih baik dan penguasaan literasi emosional yang lebih optimal setelah mereka berpartisipasi dalam kegiatan pembelajaran bahasa berbasis literasi emosi. Namun, sebanyak 28% dari seluruh siswa masih memerlukan latihan dan bimbingan lanjutan terkait literasi emosi.

Abstract

The intention of this research is to discover the implementation of Cake in teaching of pronunciation and to uncover the students’ perception toward the use of Cake in teaching of pronunciation. This research applied qualitative descriptive method. The study was conducted at a private vocational school in Cianjur West Java Indonesia in the academic year 2021. The participants consisted of second grade of banking major at the ages between 15-17. Two of them were male and ten were female. This research collected the data through observation and a forced-choice questionnaire format where the participants were asked to choose one of the available selections (Yes or No). As the data were collected, the writer analyzed them. There were six steps in analyzing the observation as well as the questionnaire: (1) preparing the data to be analyzed, (2) reading or viewing all data, (3) coding the data, (4) generalizing the code, (5) creating tables based on the data code, and (6) interpret the data code. Over the observation the writers found a new formula on implementing Cake in helping students’ pronunciation accuracy. This formula then is called MRCP with drilling as the teaching strategy. The results of questionnaire show that Cake was new for the student. It has many features that support students in learning pronunciation. The students were also happy learning using Cake and they felt more confident to speak English after learning using Cake.
