Abstract

This paper presents surface degradation assessment based on surface roughness condition for various field-aged high voltage polymer insulators that were installed at different locations. The measurement of arithmetical mean surface roughness is done, and statistical analysis is implemented in this study. Three groups of insulators labeled as 6 years, 12 years, 18 years, and with their respective controlled samples are tested using a surface roughness tester. Data measurements from the testing are analyzed in conjunction with visual observation to investigate an indication of surface degradation within the groups. Further statistical analysis is applied for the comparison of the surface roughness conditions. In order to observe the environmental stress factors that will affect the roughness condition, within the installation area, the virtual three-dimensional mapping program represented the Earth based on satellite imagery is utilized. The correlation analysis on all that three groups has indicated the positive outcomes with the roughness increased with respect to the age of insulator that located in quite similar environmental stress conditions. Regardless of the age of an insulator, the degradation due to surface roughness condition can be used to indicate what levels of environmental stress around the installation area have.

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to improve the features of Health Screening Test System (HSTS) on Social Security Organization (SOCSO) program as physical evaluation for musculoskeletal disable workers (MSDs). SOCSO existing functional testing system are not suitable because of the evaluation was recorded manually peg board too high for Asian people. The occupational therapist whose involve in all the procedures is just doing the judgment in times to determine the capability of the patients. The functional capacity evaluation (FCE) technique is based on the functional range of motion evaluation that consist of positional tolerance respecting to time-motion testing on HSTS peg board and it is by referring to the original work movement. The main features of HSTS are able to measure speed, acceleration and evaluation of SOCSO’s patients for returning to work based on SOCSO’s requirement. In order to validate the accuracy of the proposed model, HSTS is used to evaluate the patient’s positional tolerance and then the result would be compare over the time frame which is Method Time Measurement (MTM) standard. This method is able to provide information and feedback for therapies as a status of patients. It is found that the proposed model is superior in getting the accurate time test for patient’s movements besides practicable and suitable for physical evaluation on MSD patients.

Abstract

This paper presents the signal parameter of leakage current based on various surface roughness degradation conditions for field-aged high voltage polymer insulators. The arithmetical mean of surface roughness is measured accordingly, and also the surface leakage current signal is captured effectively using data acquisition device via the electrical stress test. With the variation of field-aged insulators ages which include 6-year, 12-year and 18-year, they have been mechanically tested using a surface roughness tester along with electrical testing by using the standard method of inclined plane test. The surface roughness data are recorded meanwhile the leakage current signals are further analyzed using Spectrogram to extract the signal parameter. These include the instantaneous root mean squared current, the instantaneous total harmonic distortion, the instantaneous total non- harmonic distortion and the instantaneous total waveform distortion. From the results of the comparative study, it has shown that the statistical quantity of leakage current signal parameters is responding in an increasing trend with respect to the incremental of the surface roughness. Thus, the signal parameters of the leakage current are able to indicate the degradation conditions of insulator surface.

Abstract

Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) Malaysia has reported that the incidence of work related to musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) has been growing planetary in the manufacturing industry. MSDs are the result of repetitive, forceful or awkward movements on our body and or body parts of bones, joints, ligaments and other soft tissues. Workplace pains and strains can be serious and disabling for workers, causing pain and suffering ranging from discomfort to severe disability. To overcome this problem, Electromyography is proper to use in Health Screening Program (HSP) it to monitor darn diagnose the muscle’s performance for their patient and know the exact localization of muscle pain. The previous researchers has been explore of several in EMG analysis techniques and features proposed in time, frequency and time-frequency domain analysis. This review of common EMG signal processing techniques is proposed by assembling from simple to complex analysis techniques to give the overview information for the other researcher. This is because; the suitable selection of a method and its features settings will ensure readability of the time-frequency representations and reliability of results. The strongest correspond with time-frequency characteristic and resolution also reducing cross term for bilinear will consider it as the optimal method.

Abstract

Today’s Economic Dispatch (ED) solutions are featured with environmental obligations. Hence, the significant objective functions contribute to cost minimization, lower emission and less total system losses. As an alternative, New Meta Heuristic Evolutionary Programming (NMEP) technique was proposed to optimize the individual ED problem categorized as Single Objective Environmental Economic Dispatch (SOEELD), developed from an integration of original Meta Heuristic Evolutionary Programming (Meta-EP) with Artificial Immune System (AIS) with new arrangement in the mutation and cloning processes. The comparative analysis was conducted between the original Meta-EP and classical method of Hadi Saadat to verify the performance of NMEP method. Each particular objective function identified the best possible outcomes through the NMEP method. The simulations were conducted using MATLAB programming which tested both standard IEEE 26 and 57 bus systems.

Abstract

In recent years, the utilization of digital instruments in industries is quickly expanding. This is because digital instruments are typically more exact than the analog instruments, and easier to be read as they are hooked up to a liquid-crystal display (LCD). However, manual data entry from LCD display is tedious and less accurate. This paper proposes a real-time LCD digit recognition system for the industrial purposes. The system is interfaced with an IP webcam to capture the video frames from the LCD display. The digital data is pre-processed into grayscale and being cropped into a selected region of interest (ROI). Adaptive thresholding and morphological operation are applied for the digit segmentation process. Data extraction and characterization are done by utilizing neural network classifier. Finally, all the information are logged out to Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. The 90% accuracy is accomplished for 50 test images of various LCD display.
