Abstract

Among the most important components of solar energy systems, solar collectors are devices that receive solar energy and convert it into thermal energy, as most essential components of solar dryer. This review presents description and previous work performed on performances of solar air collector for agricultural produce. In addition, various solar collectors are classified and described. Solar air collectors for drying application of agricultural produce are presented and summarize. The energy and exergy efficiency of the solar air collector ranges from 28% to 62% and from 30% to 57%, respectively.

Abstract

This paper describes the performance of tracking photovoltaic (PV) system for mobile station. The system consists of tracking PV array, the battery bank, the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) controller and the DC/AC inverter). This system is the first full solar power station, which acts as pilot project by Celcom Sdn. Bhd. Success of this system shows potential of electrify rural remote area. The design is hoped to be a pioneer and acts as well-known system in order to ensure renewable energy is the future supply of electricity in far located urban area. This paper showes the record of the battery state-of-charge (SOC) as a function of time for rainy and sunny days.

Abstract

Solar air heater (SAH), which is the most essential component of solar drying systems, receive solar energy and convert it into thermal energy. This review presents descriptions and previous works conducted on performances analysis of SAHs. Exergoenviroeconomic, exergoenvironmental, environmental, and exergy analyses are also presented. In addition, results on the performances of SAHs are summarized. The exergy and energy efficiencies of SAHs at laboratorium testing range from 8% to 61% and from 30% to 79%, respectively.

Abstract

The development of photovoltaic thermal (PVT) system is a very promising area of research. PVT systems using in various applications, such as solar drying, solar cooling, water heating, desalination, and pool heating. With the recognition of the potentials and contributions of PV system, considerable research has been conducted to attain the most advancement which may produce reliable and sustainable PVT system. The cooling system’s design refers to the absorber design which mostly focuses on water and air-based PVT systems. An air-based system has been developed through different absorber configurations, air flow modes and single- or double-pass design. Hence, a summarization on various research and development of air-based PVT system will be presented.
