Abstract

This paper presents photovoltaic three-phase grid-connected inverter with an inductor-capacitor-inductor (LCL)-filter. For robustness against variation of filter parameters and external disturbance, the passivity-based control (PBC) method has been adopted. In this method, there are two interactively coupled feedforward terms and three damping gains in the control loops which are designed to limit the steady state error of grid current. Boost converter with P&O maximum power point tracker (MPPT) is used for each photovoltaic (PV) string to extract maximum power and to raise the PV voltage to a value suitable for the grid-connected inverter. The outputs of all boost converters are connected in parallel and controlled to fixed reference voltage using proportional-integral (PI) controller to make the direct-current (DC) link voltage robust against variations in sun radiation intensity and system parameters change. The suggested system is analyzed, designed and simulated using PSIM program. 1 kW, 2kW, and 3kW PV systems connected to grid of 220V/50Hz are tested and the results show the validity of the suggested grid-connected PV systems and robustness against filter parameters variation.

Abstract

This paper presented single DC bus single phase seven level cascaded H-bridge (CHB) inverter for multi-panel photovoltaic grid-connected applications. A single DC bus supplying flyback converters to produce DC link voltages for CHB cells is suggested. A balanced operation of CHB inverter cells is obtained irrespective to power unbalance occurred by individual maximum power point tracking boost converter of photovoltaic (PV) panels due to the non-uniform irradiation and partial shading. A DC bus voltage control system with addition of estimated DC bus ripple voltage to the reference is proposed to eliminate the second order harmonic contained in the feedback voltage of DC bus enabling to design high bandwidth of DC voltage control loop. This produces fast dynamic response, low total harmonic distortion (THD) of grid current and smaller DC bus capacitance. Mathematical modeling of bus voltage control system is presented. PSIM simulation program is used and the simulation results are obtained to validate the proposed control system.

Abstract

A driving system for a three-phase variable-speed induction machine-based modular multilevel converter (MMC) with magnetic channels operating at high frequencies -connecting adjacent-arm submodules is displayed in this paper. The primary disadvantage of using MMC in variable-speed motors is a high voltage ripple generated by submodule capacitors at low speeds with constant torque. This study utilises the DHB modules as energy channels, exchanging between the SM capacitors to correct the power imbalance. The ripple power of adjacent-arm SMs may be entirely decoupled, outcomes a virtually fluctuation-set free SM capacitor voltage design. Thus, the typical MMC issue of significant ripple voltage between SM capacitors has been wholly addressed regardless of operating frequency. The design and analysis of Field Oriented Control (FOC) of induction motors is based on an algorithm that ensures the motor's efficiency across a broad speed range. In this paper, we achieved a tiny ripple in the capacitive voltage for some frequencies (50Hz, 25Hz, 10Hz, 5Hz) by (±0.25%) compared with the previous papers that achieved a reduction in ripple within (±5%), and also this system was compared with the traditional system method operating principle was presented analytically and verified using Matlab Simulink.
