Abstract

Kinesics, as non verbal and non linguistic means of communication, is used to achieve interaction perfection or communication support. Kinesics has close relation with language behaviour influenced by certain culture in certain community, in this case Japanese community. This study used qualitative approach aiming at describing child kinetics occuring through main character of “Chibi Maruko Chan” drama. The techniques of data colection are library research and observation. While the techniques of data analysis are observing the child kinesics used in the drama, classifying, analysing and interpreting the finding. The result showed that in “Chibi Maruko Chan” drama, its main character, Maruko, besides using child kinesics, she also used general kinesics, while slang kinesics was not used. The functions of kinesics mostly used are complement, substitution, and repetition. Based on the kinesics performed, Japanese community have several characteristics, they are expressive, adore shame culture, tolerant, „aijou‟, harmonious, like forgiving/thanking, respect the quality, „koujoushin‟, and careful.Keywords:Character,culture, function, kinesics, non-verbal communication.

Abstract

In the current era of globalization, learning a foreign language has become a necessity for everyone. Not only for adults, but for teenagers and children, the ability to speak foreign languages ​​really supports them to understand other knowledge, especially those using foreign languages. Learning in the scope of public schools under the auspices of the Ministry of National Education and schools under the auspices of the Ministry of Religion such as Madrasah Ibtidaiyah and the like have differences both in the types of lessons in the curriculum and the standards of each of these subjects. For schools that are under the auspices of the department of religion such as Madrasah Ibtidaiyah and the like, the foreign language included in the national curriculum is generally Arabic. While English is usually included in the realm of local content. For the practice of learning these English teachers must develop their own learning implementation plans that have not been included in the national curriculum. Likewise, learning English at Madrasah Khozinatul Ulum Blora, Central Java. Foreign language teachers at there, both English and Arabic try to use learning methods and strategies that can attract the attention of their students. This study aims to describe foreign language learning for students of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah in Blora. The target is expected to increase knowledge about foreign language learning for children and expand knowledge about foreign language learning for students of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. Data collection techniques were carried out by observing learning activities and written documents. The research steps consist of 1) design 2) data collection 3) data processing 4) conclusion drawing, and 5) report writing. The data collection stage includes data categorization activities, and data analysis. The report writing stage includes report writing activities and research results presentation. The results of this study are expected to add insight and expand knowledge about foreign language learning for students of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah.

Abstract

J-pop culture has greatly influenced Japanese culture, including the emergence of Chika Idols (地下アイドル). Chika Idols are independently managed idols who usually perform in small venues. They are also known as concert idols or indie idols. The purpose of this study is to identify the differences and similarities between the influence of Chika Idol culture in Japan and Indonesia. This study uses a qualitative method with comparative methodology. The objective is to explore the differences and similarities between Japanese and Indonesian Chika Idol culture. The data used were observations at the KirinFes Bandung event, Semilir Japan Matsuri 4 in Semarang, and Toys and Hobbies in Surabaya. Secondary data was obtained from YouTube accounts such as 【ヲタ芸】白狐-Hako, websites related to the world of Chika Idol such as FUN!JAPAN, Japan Times, J-Wave, Media Factory, YumeTwins, and Yes Tiger, as well as several journals related to Chika Idol. The research findings reveal four types of activities that exhibit both differences and similarities in the Japanese Chika Idol culture in Indonesia. The conclusion is that the differences and similarities in the influence of Japanese Chika Idol culture in Indonesia are significant, leading many people to desire their own idol group.

Abstract

Hanabi taikai is a festival held annually in Japan during the summer. Initially, hanabi taikai was used as a means of praying for people who died due to famine caused by crop failure and cholera, but its role has shifted to visual entertainment, although hanabi is not just visual entertainment it also holds other meanings from a philosophical and social perspective. The purpose of this research is to explore the meaning contained in hanabi taikai from philosophical and social perspectives. This research uses a qualitative method with semi-structured interviews, field observations, and document studies as data collection techniques. Data was obtained from interview results, personal documentation, YouTube videos, and TikTok videos. The results of this study indicate that from a philosophical perspective, hanabi has meaning as a temporary beauty and a beauty that can be enjoyed simply. From a social perspective, hanabi has meaning as a means to strengthen togetherness and social harmony. Hanabi reminds us of transience, simplicity, and the importance of social harmony in daily life.
