Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui profil penalaran logis peserta didik yang memiliki gaya berpikir sekuensial konkret, sekuensial abstrak, acak konkret, acak abstrak dan perbedaannya dalam memecahkan masalah Fisika di MAN Baraka. Data yang diperoleh melalui hasil wawancara dan pekerjaan tertulis dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisis data Model Miles dan Huberman. Hasil penelitian mendeskripsikan penalaran logis peserta didik yang memiliki gaya berpikir berbeda. Deskripsi utuh yang memuat seluruh komponen penalaran logis dan konektivitas setiap unsur dari profil dijabarkan dengan mind mapping. Kesimpulan yang diperoleh berupa profil penalaran logis peserta didik yang memiliki gaya berpikir berdampak pada kemampuan memecahkan masalah Fisika. A researchthat aims to determine the profile of logical reasoning of student who have a concrete suquential thinking style, sequential abstract, concrete random, abstract random and differences in solving physics promlems at MAN Baraka. Data obtained through interviews and written work were analyzed using data analysis Miles and Huberman model. The results describe the logical reasoning of student who have different thinking styles. Full description that contains all the components of logical reasoning and the connectivity of each element of the profile described by mind mapping. Conclusions obtained in the form of logical reasoning profile of student who have thinking styles impact to solving physics problems’ ability.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pendekatan Multiple Intelligences melalui Model Pembelajaran Langsung (Direct Instruction) terhadap sikap dan hasil belajar Kimia peserta didik serta korelasinya pada kelas XI IPA SMA Negeri I Tellu Limpoe. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen dengan desain Posttest-Only Control Group Design. Hasil analisis statistik deskriptif menunjukkan bahwa sikap dan hasil belajar Kimia peserta didik pada kelas eksperimen lebih baik dibandingkan kelas kontrol. Selanjutnya, hasil analisis statistik inferensial menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan pendekatan Multiple Intellegences terhadap sikap dan hasil belajar Kimia peserta didik serta memiliki korelasi positif sebesar 0,522 (korelasi sedang). A research has been conducted which aims to determine the effect of Multiple Intelligences approach through Direct Learning Model (Direct Instruction) toward the learners’ attitude and their Chemistry learning outcomes and their correlation to class XI Science SMAN I Tellu Limpoe. This study is an experimental research design with Posttest-Only Control Group Design. The descriptive statistical analysis of the results shows that the learners’ attitudes and chemistry learning outcomes in experimental class were better than the control class. Then, the result of inferential statistical analysis shows that there is a significant influence of Multiple intelligences approach toward the learners’ attitude and their Chemistry learning outcomes and has a positive correlation of 0.522 (moderate correlation).

Abstract

This study sought to check and evaluate whether or not thought experiments presented in the Indonesian physics textbooks can be used as tools to transfer scientific knowledge. This was a descriptive study using Indonesian physics textbooks as the primary sources of data. In this study, we analyzed thirty (30) physics textbooks from Grades 10 to 12 which are widely used both by teachers and students. The results showed that majority of physics textbooks did not mention about thought experiments. Only 6 physics textbooks presented thought experiments at a satisfactory level. The number of physics textbooks that described thought experiments in fair and poor levels are 9 and 5 respectively. The study concludes that Indonesian physics textbooks published from 2009 to 2017 generally lack thought experiments. Many authors of these Indonesian physics textbooks ignored or inadequately present thought experiments. Moreover, 70% of thought experiments mentioned in the physics textbooks were in the fair and poor levels. So, in general, thought experiments presented in the Indonesian physics textbooks cannot be used as an introduction in transferring scientific knowledge to science students.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to examine the students’ purposes in conducting thought experiments while solving physics problems. There were 12 pre- and in-service physics teachers as the participants in this study and divided into three groups with four students in each. Physics problem-solving activities were used as a context for observing students’ processes in doing TEs. The results of the data analysis showed that there were three types of purposes of the students in doing the TEs during physics problem-solving activities: prediction, verification, and explanation. Therefore, it can be concluded that in the context of problem-solving, students design and run thought experiments as a creative ability tool to (1) predict solutions to the problem, (2) verify whether their hypothesis is correct or incorrect, (3) provide a detailed explanation to their hypothesis. Based on this study, we discuss the differences and similarities in the purposes of scientists and students in doing thought experiments. The importance and implications of thought experiments for current and future physics teachers are also discussed in the last part of this study
