Abstract

The reconstruction effort on interpretation continues to be carried out with various methods and approaches. This reflection then causes various Muslim and non-Muslim intellectuals to compete in interpreting Al-Qur'anic text. The purpose of this research is to find out Abdullah Saeed's contextual interpretation methodology in Al-Qur'an 21st Century. This research uses the book of Abdullah Saeed's entitled "Islamic Thought; An Introduction ", supported by other literature. In general, the four operational steps of Abdullah Saeed's contextual interpretation: 1) identifying initial considerations by understanding the subjectivity of the interpreter, constructing language and meaning and the world of the Al-Qur’an (encounter with the world of texts); 2) begin the task of interpretation by identifying the original intent of the text and believing the authenticity and reliability of the text (critical analysis of the text independently); 3) identify the meaning of the text by exploring each context (meaning for the first recipient; 4) linking the interpretation of the text to the current context (the contextualization process, the meaning for the moment). If the Al-Qur'an is said to be "according the time and place" the understanding is not what is written in the Al-Qur'an carried out anytime and anywhere, but must be adapted to space and time. This does not reduce the degree of Al- Qur'an, but makes the benefit of the people.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the impact of online games on the moral development of adolescents in Sidoasri Village, Sumbermanjing Wetan District, Malang Regency. Amid the rapid advancement of digital technology and the widespread access to smartphones and the internet, online gaming has become an integral part of daily life, including among rural youth. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, this research combines literature review and field studies through observations and interviews with adolescents, parents, and teachers. The findings reveal that online gaming has dual impacts on adolescent morality. Negative effects identified include decreased adherence to social norms, increased verbal aggression, reduced social empathy, and neglect of moral responsibilities and religious obligations. On the other hand, moderate and supervised game usage shows positive outcomes such as improved critical thinking skills, teamwork, creativity, and proficiency in foreign languages and information technology. These results highlight that the impact of online games greatly depends on the type of game, frequency of use, influence of the social environment, and the level of parental and educational supervision. Therefore, a holistic and contextual character education approach is necessary, incorporating digital literacy based on moral and religious values into the lives of adolescents, especially in socially and religiously diverse areas like Sidoasri. This study recommends a collaborative effort between families, schools, communities, and the government to shape a digitally literate yet morally grounded young generation.

Abstract

The role of Islamic modernization as the basis of democracy in Indonesia. Against the backdrop of sensitive ethnic, linguistic, religious and geographic diversity, this country requires a wise approach to maintain unity and integrity. The author links democracy with the modernization of Islam, discusses the history of democracy in Islam, especially during the time of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, and links it to the concept of the caliphate. In the context of Indonesian democracy, research highlights restrictions on government action, tolerance, equality before the law, free elections, freedom of political parties, respect for people's rights, and respect for minority rights. This research criticizes the view that democracy only succeeds after an era of authoritarianism, while trying to raise public awareness about their role in maintaining democracy. The research discusses the risks of political Islamization in the democratic party in Indonesia. This is highlighted as a challenge to the modernization of Islam, where Islamic political parties are often misunderstood as sources of radicalism. However, research emphasizes that the modernization of Islam as a pillar of democracy must be directed at tolerance, social justice, and a positive relationship between Islamic religion and politics, without ignoring the risk of political Islamization which could damage democracy. This research concludes that Indonesia needs a democratic approach based on Islamic modernization to achieve unity, tolerance and social justice. However, it is necessary to avoid the politicization of Islam which has the potential to damage stability and democracy.
