Abstract

Noting the problem of increasing airports congestion, it is crucial to obtain a practical and efficient scheduling for departure and landing. The problem of deciding how to land an aircraft on the airport involves assigning each aircraft to an appropriate runway, computing a landing sequence for each runway and scheduling the landing time for each aircraft. The objective was to achieve effective runway use. In this paper, a multiple runway case of the static Aircraft Landing Problem was considered. It was assumed that one of the runways is not available. A mixed integer formulation approach was proposed to deal with the problem. The approach of solving this problem was breaking down the main problem into several sub problems. To validate the model, eight test problems were extracted from the OR-Library and discussions made on their solutions.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ij-ict.v2i3.5284

Abstract

Nowadays, improving the quality of products, reducing cost and meeting customer’srequirements are necessary to shorten the time of new product development(NPD). NPD is used to describe the complete process of bringing a new product to market and conceptual design process(CDP) is at its early stage and has mostly changed from passive respond toaggressive one. Thus, this study proposed a practical method for CDP in NPDthrough three phases as Converting customers’ requirements to product specifications,Generating and selecting of concepts and Testing and finalizing the concepts byusing some different management-engineering techniques. Firstly, this papertried to prioritize customer’s requirements related to product by AHP (AnalyticHierarchy Process) and convert them to engineering parameters of TRIZ (Theoryof Inventive Problem Solving) in order to define the inventive principals.Next, based on QFD (Quality Function Deployment), we measured the weight valuesof inventive principals. Finally, as FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis)can analyze the weight values and reduce the sequential risk, then finalconceptual design was generated. At the end, a medical glasses was used as acase study of innovative design to validate the method and explain how thestrategies of this research for CDP.

Abstract

Nowadays, Innovation is known as an essential component of competitiveness, classified in different types in literature. For instance, on one hand it is classified based on OECD as product, process, marketing and organizational innovations and on the other hand as incremental, competence developing, market developing and radical ones based on the degree of internal and external newness. Also, innovation models have changed from “simple linear” to “networking interactions” and concepts such as ‘open innovation’ and ‘innovation network’ have become important to both academic and market society due to intensive global competition. Therefore, this paper tried to empirically study and analyze the types of innovation based on OECD regarding to other classification based on the degree of internal and external newness in a networking interaction. Thus, in order to empirically explore the relations between these two classifications, we used the data of last three years (2008-2011) of 50 companies from the network Pardis Technology Park (PTP) in Iran as a case study. The results showed that most of the innovations as product, marketing and organizational were new to the market. Also marketing and process innovations were more related to radical and incremental innovation respectively and less organizational innovations were incremental.

Abstract

Nowadays, Innovation can be named as one of the best practices as quality, speed, dependability, flexibility and cost which it helps organization enter to new markets, increase the existing market share and provide it with a competitive edge. In addition, organizations have moved forward from “hiding idea (Closed Innovation)” to “opening them (Open Innovation)”. Therefore, concepts such as “open innovation” and “innovation network” have become important and beneficial to both academic and market society. Therefore, this study tried to empirically study the effects of networking on innovations. In this regard, in order to empirically explore how networking influences innovations, this paper used types of innovations based on OCED definition as organizational, marketing, process and product and compared their changes before and after networking of 45 companies in the network Pardis Technology Park as a case study. The results and findings showed that all of the innovation types were increased after jointing the companies to the network. In fact, we arranged these changing proportions from the most to the least change as marketing, process, organizational and product innovation respectively. Although there were some negative growth in some measures of these innovations after jointing into the network.
