Abstract

Lilik Handayani Politeknik Perkapalan Negeri Surabaya (lily9.handayani@gmail.com) Abstract The present study was a case study undertaken to investigate the learning strategy employed by an EFL student and improvement of his listening comprehension. Participant‟s learning strategy was measured by Strategy Inventory for Language Learning (SILL) questionnaire and Strategic Listening Interview (SLI). The participant‟s listening comprehension skill was measured by an EFL listening comprehension test. The result of SILL questionnaire was calculated and analyzed to determine the most dominantly applied learning strategy. It was triangulated to the result of SLI, whereas the result of listening comprehension test was linked to the learning strategy. The findings revealed that the higher the level of strategic listening score the student obtained, the higher the score he attained on the listening comprehension test and vice versa. Abstract

In teaching English for engineering students, the emphasis goes to understanding the technical terms within reading scientific texts, writing technical report, and speaking on certain topics relevant to the major specialization. Students of Shipbuilding Institute of Polytechnic Surabaya (SHIPS) are demanded to be able to communicate actively either in oral or written English particularly after graduation when they work in offshore, mining  and shipyard industries.Therefore, this study is aimed to promote students’ speaking ability through role play within discourse based approach. Role play is selected to develop students’ knowledge about why, how and when to communicate based on the real-life context and their specialized background. Students are encouraged to act out the roles with a partner in speaking tasks. A continuum of spoken texts in English are provided to explore students macro and micro-level discourse awareness. This paper elaborates the stages of designing speaking tasks focusing on role play.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pajak daerah, retribusi daerah, dan kekayaan daerah yang dipisahkan terhadap pendapatan asli daerah (PAD) Kota Balikpapan. Data penelitian ini diperoleh dari laporan BPKAD Kota Balikpapan pada periode tahun 2012-2016. Pada penelitian ini menggunakan data kuantitatif dengan metode pengujian analisis deskriptif kuantitatif dan regresi linear berganda. Berdasarkan hasil analisis persamaan regresi linear berganda adalah hasil analisis menunjukan bahwa nilai koefisien korelasi (R-square) 0,947 atau 9,47% yang berarti seluruh variabel bebas yaitu pajak daerah, retribusi daerah, dan kekayaan daerah yang dipisahkan memiliki hubungan yang kuat terhadap variabel pendapatan asli daerah (PAD). Sedangkan berdasarkan uji-F menunjukkan hasil bahwa semua variabel X pengaruh secara simultan terhadap variabel Y yang dibuktikan dengan hasil Sig lebih kecil dari nilai 0. Adapun hasil uji parsial menunjukkan bahwa secara parsial pajak daerah berpengaruh signifikan terhadap pendapatan asli daerah yang dibuktikan dengan hasil t-hitung sebesar 21.915 > t-tabel 6.314, sedangkan variabel retribusi daerah tidak berpengaruh terhadap pendapatan asli daerah dibuktikan dengan nilai 3.776 < t-tabel 6.314

Abstract

This community service program aims to enhance digital literacy among MSMEs in Warung Asem Batang Village as a strategy to improve local economic capacity in the digital era. The method used involves digital training sessions, mentoring, and practical implementation of social media and e-commerce for business promotion. The training activities demonstrated that the participants’ knowledge and skills in digital technology increased significantly, particularly in the use of smartphones, the creation of advertising content, and the use of digital platforms for marketing. Several participants were able to directly apply their learning by creating business profiles on social media, uploading promotional content, and making online sales. However, the program also encountered challenges such as limited access to digital infrastructure and varying participant abilities. These findings indicate that digital empowerment for MSMEs can be effectively implemented with a structured and contextual approach. Strengthening digital literacy among rural entrepreneurs is expected to drive inclusive and sustainable economic development.
