Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out of how well Index Card Match strategy can Improve students’ ability in vocabulary mastery in the first grade of MTs Hidayatus Shibyan students of P.Na’im Sui.Ambawang Kubu Raya. The method used in this research was a Classroom Action Research (CAR) which consisted of Planning, Acting, Observing, and Reflecting. This research was conducted in two cycles in order to get maximum result of the research. In cycle 1, the quantitative data showed that the students mean score was 65,20 and in cycle 2 the mean score was 75,30. Based on the minimum of standard achievement (KKM), that is 70, the mean score of the second cycle was showed improvement from the first cycle. It showed that the students got improvement and past the KKM. In The qualitative data describe that the students become more often in asking the question to the teacher, especially in cycle 2. The students seems to motivated to find more vocabulary related to the topic given. This is indicate that the use of Index Card Match improved the students vocabulary mastery and make the students become more active and motivated to improve their vocabulary. In conclussion, the students’ problem in their vocabulary mastery could be successfully solved through Index Card Match Strategy.

Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan listening mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris pada semester 2 tahun akademik 2015/2016. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Tindakan Kelas yang dilakukan dalam lima (5) siklus. Tiap-tiap siklus dilaksanakan dalam satu pertemuan yang dilaksanakan di dalam laboratorium audio visual Prodi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris. Jumlah subjek penelitian sebanyak 37 orang mahasiswa. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan dua teknik pengambilan data yaitu observasi dan pengukuran. Alat-alat pengambilan data yang digunakan adalah lembar observasi, lembar catatan lapangan, dan soal-soal listening. Dalam menganalisa data pada data kualitatif dengan cara merangkum data, penyajian data, dan menyimpulkan data atau verifikasi. Pada data kuantitatif dianalisis dengan mengkalkulasikan nilai individu dan nilai rata-rata dari hasil tes listening. Dari hasil analisis data, maka ditemukan peningkatan yang konsisten pada tiap siklus penelitian.

Abstract

This research entitled An Analysis on Students’ Difficulties in the use of Plural “-s” Form and Simple Present Marker “-s” are to identify the difficulties that the students face in using marker –s in plural form and in simple present tense. This research method was a descriptive research with the sample the first semester students of Mathematic Education study program. The sample of this research consist of 56 students from class A morning and 22 students from class B morning, so the total sample were 78 students. The tools used in the research were a  test and a questionnaire. From the data analysis it was found that the students average score was 45.6 which categorized as poor. The score then indicates that the students have difficulties in the use of  plural “-s” form and simple present tense marker ‘-s”. The result from questionnaire also showed that more than 60% agree that the students face difficulties in using marker –s in plural form and infinitive in simple present tense.Keywords: Students’ Difficulties, Plural “-s” Form, Simple Present Marker “-s”
