Abstract

Development of employee performance is a must that any organization should take into account to be a successful in achieving its goals. However, the tools of developing that performance are varying based on the type of the organization and the nature of the work performed. Performance appraisal is one of the effective tools that help the organization to measure the accomplishment of its goals, if implemented effectively. In education, it became evident that performance appraisal of educators is an essential element of the development of any educational institution. To make the performance appraisal fruitful, the development element should be dominant in the sense that other elements of the appraisal should serve the broad aim of the appraisal process. Therefore, a well-designed and comprehensive system is needed to cover all the aspects of appraisal process that include of the goals, criteria, instruments, and continuous support.

Abstract

This study reported herein is the used of TER as the basis to ascertain if the commitment of the lecturers can lead to academic excellence of the students.  The TER is comprised of questionnaires in which the foundation students are the respondents (N=433) in assessing the courses as well as the lecturers.  The performances of the students in the form of final exam grades are also used. The respondents were comprised of 85% Indian, 10% Malay and 5% Chinese.  There are more than 30% of the students who have obtained a grade of A- and better, the TER was less than 80%.  Due to the limitation and the unavailability of matching each student to their evaluation towards the lecturers, the results presented above is weakly conclusive. It is recommended that future research in similar areas to incorporate the matching of students be made with the lecturers to obtain reliable and conclusive result.

Abstract

The use of information technology has become an important that has changed the learning process and implementation of educational organizations. (Syamsul A. Hamid, 2021). Several studies show that the use of information technology in organizations increases employee productivity and job performance. at the same time, Previous studies (Raman, Thannimalai, Ismail, 2019) found that the level of lecturer competence among vocational college lecturers is moderate. Therefore, it is desirable to conduct up -to -date research. Objectives of this study was to identify the level of ICT competence of lecturers in Central Zone Vocational College, Malaysia. Descriptive analysis was conducted with regards to mean and standard deviation. Second objective was to test the relationship between the dimension and subdimension of standard competency model, and the effectiveness of ICT in the Central Zone Vocational College, Malaysia. Inferential analysis was used to identify contribution of exogenous variable to endogenous variable through Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) using AMOS. This study uses a quantitative approach through survey method. Questionnaires were distributed to 388 lecturers in central zone vocational colleges, Malaysia. They were randomly selected evenly. Data analysis was performed using the Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS) version 25. The findings showed that, the data of this study indicated high level of competency in ICT among lecturers in Central Zone Vocational College, Malaysia when the mean score exceeds 6.68. Furthermore, the results of the analysis showed the value of the fitness indexes of this model meets the suggested fitness index by previous researchers, namely with the normed chi-square values (χ2/df) was 2.875 ( 5.0), CFI = 0.970 ( 0.90), TLI = 0.963 ( 0.90), GFI = 0.901 ( 0.90) and RMSEA = 0.070 ( 0.08). In conclusion, data collected showed that the proposed structural model does achieve the level of fitness required. This also indicate that the proposed model of lecturer’s competency in the central zone vocational college, Malaysia are fit with the data. The implications of the study indicate that the role of lecturers as educators is important in developing appropriate reforms in supporting the innovations that take place in educational organizations. Apart from that, the findings also provide a new perspective in the implementation of innovation in the education system in Malaysia.

Abstract

The tide of globalization is moving so fast nowadays. Changes and its development are quite difficult to curb from spreading in our lives. These developments continue to have a positive impact on the community and no less giving various challenges to all of us especially to the world of education. The competency factor of the lecturer should increase in line with the changing environment. The opposite situation occurs in some educational institutions in Malaysia, such as vocational colleges (KV). Thus, the implementation of this study aimed to analyze the internal environment of vocational colleges involving information and communication technology (ICT) facilities as well as the effectiveness of ICT vocational colleges. Inferential analysis was used to identify contribution of exogenous variable to endogenous variable through Structural Equation Modeling (SEM-AMOS). To achieve the objectives of the study, a survey - type quantitative study design was implemented. Questionnaire instruments were distributed to 388 vocational college lecturers in the central zone of Malaysia using stratified random sampling. Furthermore, the questionnaire data were analyzed using Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS) version 25. The findings showed that there is a significant relationship between technological facilities (such as computers) with ICT effectiveness when p<0.05. In terms of moderators, the demographics of lecturers, namely gender, age and computer usage practices of KV lecturers affect the effectiveness of ICT KV when the mean score exceed 8.50. Furthermore, the developed model also meets the model fit indices requirements with RMSEA value at 0.060, CFI=0.973, TLI=0.968, Chisq/df=2.380 and GFI=0. 901.The implications of the study indicate that the role of lecturers as educators is important in developing appropriate reforms in supporting the innovations that take place in educational organizations.

Abstract

The dynamics of diversity and cultural competency are elements that run parallel with globalization. Appreciating diversity is part of global leadership competency. However, this assumption may not hold in a context in which multiculturalism diversity and competency are not an integral element for leadership competency for public sector educational leaders. Public organization should assimilate and practice appreciating diversity in the organizational leadership competency. Thus, the central aim of this study is to investigate and examine the appreciating diversity competency for educational leaders. The paper analyzed the appreciating competencies by using interpretive structural modelling (ISM) based on experts’ consensus. The cross-impact matrix multiplication applied to classification (MICMAC) analysis ascertained and classified each competency based on their driving and dependent power. The hierarchical model developed through ISM yielded seven appreciating competencies divided into two dimensions for educational leaders. The model proposed could be adopted by stakeholders to upgrade the competency of educational leaders to practice and apply appreciating diversity. The ISM model could be adopted for the training and development of future educational leaders in preparation to administer and lead multicultural and multigenerational organizational communities.
