Abstract

The purpose of the study is to analyze the practice of Priority Banking in Indonesia at PT. Bank Syariah Mandiri (hereinafter referred to as BSM), especially in the use of wadiah contracts in priority banking services. The research method is normative legal studies with analysis using Usul Fiqh to identify the presence or absence of usury in priority banking services. Data is obtained through observation techniques, direct interviews and document studies. The results of this study are that there are 3 types of Priority Banking Services offered to customers both from deposits with wadiah or mudharabah contracts, namely Financial Services, Non-Financial Services, and Special Programs for Priority Banking Customers. The three services are funded by BSM internal cash. Priority banking services conducted by BSM violated the provisions of the DSN-MUI fatwa No. 01/DSN-MUI/IV/2000 regarding Current Account and DSN-MUI fatwa No. 02/DSN-MUI/IV/2000 which states that the banks are not permitted to give bonuses if promised in advance. This study concludes that for services which yield material benefits that have a wadiah contract, then it is usury. However, if it yields immaterial benefits, it is not usury so that it is permitted.

Abstract

This study explores the factors influencing profit growth in Islamic commercial banks in Indonesia, focusing on Return on Assets (ROA) as the dependent variable. The independent variables analyzed include one-month deposits, Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), Non-Performing Financing (NPF) Murabahah, Financing to Deposit Ratio (FDR), Operational Costs to Operational Income (BOPO), and Mismatch. Secondary data from the Sharia Banking Statistics (SPS) of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) for 2014–2023 is utilized. Using the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM), findings indicate that CAR negatively affects ROA in the long term, while NPF Murabahah has a significant positive impact. However, one-month deposits, FDR, BOPO, and Mismatch do not exhibit a significant long-term effect. In the short run, ROA is primarily influenced by its past values, with no notable impact from other variables. The impulse response function analysis shows that ROA reacts positively to shocks in NPF Murabahah and Mismatch, stabilizing over time, while negative responses are observed for shocks in 1-month deposits, CAR, FDR, and BOPO. Variance Decomposition Analysis further reveals that, apart from ROA itself, Mismatch contributes the most to ROA fluctuations, whereas BOPO has the least effect.

Abstract

The digital transformation via FinTech has altered the global investment landscape, particularly the Sharia capital market. This technology provides quick access, low pricing, and inventive goods, opening up new potential for investors. However, extensive research on the impact of FinTech in improving investment decisions in the Sharia capital market from the standpoint of individual investors remains scarce. The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of age, income, environmental variables, and understanding of Sharia investment products on investing decisions made using FinTech applications. A quantitative study was conducted, including data collected from individual investors in Jabodetabek. The research was carried out utilizing Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The findings are likely to give a thorough knowledge for FinTech developers, investors, and regulators looking to optimize the role of technology in the establishment of an inclusive Sharia finance market.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of maqashid sharia objective factors on the income and expenditure of Indonesian people, using the Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) approach analysis. The sample of this study consisted of Indonesian people who are Muslim, including those of productive age and have income to analyze and identify the relationship between maqashid sharia factors both in income and in their respective expenses. The results of the study indicate that maintaining religion (Al-din) has a positive and significant impact on both income and expenditure. Meanwhile, maintaining property (Al-mal) has been shown to have a substantial effect on income, but not on expenditure. Maintaining reason (Al-aql) also shows a significant impact on income, but not on expenditure. On the other hand, maintaining descendants (An-nasl) does not show a substantial effect on finances, either in terms of income or expenditure. Maintaining the soul (An-nafs) has a significant effect on expenditure, but not on income. Overall, this study found that income has a significant influence on expenditure, indicating that effective income management is very important in the financial management of Muslim individuals in Indonesia
