Di era tekonologi informasi seperti saat ini, sudah mulai banyak media sosial yang mengisi setiap kehidupan masyarakat di dunia digital. Dalam hal ini kemajuan teknologi akan membawa dampak yang bisa mempengaruhi kehidupan masyarakat, mulai dari dampak baik dan dampak buruk yang akan datang. Penelitian ini diharapkan agar masyarakat umum pengguna media sosial terutama di kalangan akademisi agar bisa lebih sistematis dalam mengolah informasi dan memilah informasi yang bisa dipercaya. Menggunakan metode analisis deskriptif dengan teori komunikasi untuk mengidentifikasi problematika komunikasi modern seperti masalah hoax di media sosial, agar metode ini menjadi salah satu cara yang bisa digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi dan menghindari pengguna media sosial dari berita-berita yang tidak benar. Penulis berharap hasil dari penelitian ini diharapakan bisa berguna bagi pengguna media sosial baik dari masyarakat awan, lingkungan akademis, hingga pemerintahan.
