Abstract

PT. XYZ is a manufacturing company that produces the constituent components of HDD (Hard Disk Drive) products. One of the products produced by PT. XYZ made from rubber. The product has a strict specification, both for the accuracy of size and for display. One of the problems faced by PT. XYZ is the output of a 100% unstable check section even though the amount of human resources used is the same every day. There is a variation of the output / clock / operator from 650 to 714.4 pieces. This study aims to analyze the cause of the variation of output / hour / operator and to find solutions to minimize the output variation. The result of this research can be concluded that the cause of variation of output / hour / operator is the number of product type checked by operator not always the same every day. Where more and more types of products are checked then the smaller the output on that day. To get maximum results then the operator only do one type of product every day. If not possible then cultivated to a minimum operator change the type of product checked. It requires expertise from the supervisor to manage the work of the operator in an effort to get the maximum output.

Abstract

This research was performed on 3 cutting tools which are tool drill 1.8mm, 2.5mm in diameter and tool back chamfer 2.2mm in diameter. Hardness value from each cutting tool was approximately 300 HRC. Meanwhile, material used in this research is SUS 420 that has hardness value 262HRC. To perform cutting on work unit, it was requested higher hardness value for cutting tool compared to work unit (SUS420). Tool drill 1.8mm in diameter was used at first pitting process (rapping), tool drill 2.5mm in diameter was used at second pitting process (finishing) and tool back chamfer 2.2mm in diameter was used at the last pitting process. This research was performed to define the tool life of cutting tools that utilized in milling machine from work unit material SUS 420. From this research, it was expected maximum amount that can be achieved from cutting tools every replacement can be obtained. At the end of study, when the replacement time of cutting tools can be defined, the loss of not good product (because of cutting) can be avoided. Based on the result, tool life of cutting tool was 920 cuttings.

Abstract

PT. ABC is manufacture company that produce HDD (Hard Disk Drive) product with rubber as raw material. One of production process is process to washing product. Current practice, washing process use manual machine which process depend on worker’s performance. Productivity of washing process need to improved. Engineering propose automation washing machine to improve it. Effect after change washing machine from manual to automation such as productivity increase 33.6 times (from 2,199  to 38,000 pc/man/hour), daily output increase  3.3 times (from 92,337  to 399,000 pcs / hour), man power reduce 3.5 Person (from 4 to 0.5 person) and man power cost reduce Rp. 28,700,000.- / month (from Rp. 32,800,000.- to Rp 4,100,000.- /month).

Abstract

The research was conducted to improve employee discipline in having absenteeis. PT. ABC has been using the attendance system with ID Card for 10 years. When employees forget to bring their ID cards, there will be a lot of manual work which is wasteful and can reduce employee productivity. In this study, an analysis of additional jobs was carried out because employees did not carry ID card.When the employee does not carry an ID card, the employee must write down the data in the book provided, the security officer must make sure the employee writes the data correctly, then delivers the book every morning to the HR payroll staff and takes it back every afternoon and the HR payroll staff must enter employee data manually to attendance data.Based on these conditions, the company, in this case the HR and IT department and in collaboration with all related departments, changed the attendance system from using an ID Card to a system with face detection.The face is a unique and inherent part of the body for every employee.The face is declared unique because everyone's face is different from one another even though they are twins.The application of the attendance system with face detection has an effect on improving employee discipline and productivity.

Abstract

This research was conducted at PT. HDD, which is a Japanese PMA and is engaged in manufacturing HDD (Hard Disk Drive) components. On mid of August 2020, customer of PT. HDD revise the order quantity. Customer reduce order quantity from August to December 2020.With the phenomenon of decreasing orders, it is necessary to make efforts to reduce production costs. By reducing production costs, it is expected that the company will get profit. Reduction of production costs is carried out on labor costs and utility costs (water and electricity). To achieve this goal, management established 5 policies so that labor costs and utility costs (electricity and water) were reduced.The policies taken relate to eliminating / controlling overtime hours, stop contract employees and not recruit new employees, moving employees from the excess employee section to the understaffed section, reducing days work for 3 days (done in September 2020) and reduce work days by 2 days (done in October 2020).

Abstract

PT. ABC is a Japanese PMA that produces HDD (Hard Disk Drive) components, where the assembly process still uses a partial automatic machine whose productivity still depends on the performance of the operator to do manual work. This research aims to increase the productivity of HDD products on the assembly line. The research design used is a combination of exploratory and descriptive methods. Its research approach uses quantitative data. The variable of this study is productivity, the type of data used is primary data and secondary data. The method to increase productivity on the Crash Stop assembly line is to eliminate manual work and change the assembly machine (assemble rubber and stainless components) from partially automatic to fully automatic. The result after replacing the assembly machine from partially automatic to fully automatic was that productivity increased by 2.5 times compared to the previous one which was an increase of 4,707 pieces / person / hour (from 1,913 to 6,620 pieces / person / hour). From the research that has been done, it can be concluded that productivity on the assembly line increases after the replacement of the machine from a partially automated machine to a fully automatic machine.  In the future, it is expected that automatic machines can be applied to other production machines.

Abstract

Kebutuhan akan air bersih di Fakultas Teknik Universitas Kepulauan Riau Batam, sebagai akibat dari bertambahnya jumlah mahasiswa, staf dan dosen Fakultas Teknik adalah seringnya terjadi air mati yang bukan disebabkan oleh kurangnya sumber air, tetapi karena kurangnya perhatian manajemen fakultas terhadap penyediaan jumlah sebenarnya dari total pasokan air yang dibutuhkan oleh mahasiswa, staf dan dosen. Dengan melakukanan alias terhadap kapasitas volume penampung air, kerugian-kerugian head kecepatan aliran air baik itu dikarenakan panjang pipa (kerugian minor) maupun kelengkapan pipa lainnya (kerugian mayor), maka kita dapat mengetahui Debit aliran air di setiap titik pengeluaran air,dan mengetahui volume kapasitas penampung air bersih yang sesuai dengan asumsi kebutuhan air bersih berdasarkan jumlah Mahasiswa Fakultas Teknik Universitas Riau Kepulauan Batam. Hasil dari analisa dan perancangan, Total Head aliran air yang dibutuhkan untuk menaikkan air dari ATB menuju penampung air sebesar 13,303 m, Debit aliran dari penampung air sebesar 0,0073 m3/s, dan agar distribusi air bersih dapat terpenuhi dan tidak terjadi kendala mati air, maka volume kapasitas penampung air perlu ditambah sebesar 32,08 m3.

Abstract

Products 3D35 produced by PT. Team Metal Indonesia uses CNC machines, through two main processes, roughing process and finishing process.  The main problem faced is reject due to the remnants of the piece (chips). Chips stick to the 1 mm chuck collect gap, causing the product 3D35 not to be perfectly attached to the chuck collect, which is tilted or not in the middle position. To solve this problem, it is necessary to modify the chuck collect, by adding a gap with a width of 10 mm and a depth of 10 mm in 6 positions (one axis with the original design, a gap of 1 mm). The modifications are effective for increasing daily production output and reducing rejects in roughing process and finishing process. At roughing process, daily production output increased by 6% (31 pieces/536 pieces) and rejects decreased by 2.6% (from 4.7% to 2.1%). At finishing process, the daily production output increased by 7% (24 pieces / 342 pieces) and the reject was reduced by 1.6% (from 4.3% to 2.7%). This modification can be applied to all chuck collects used to produce product 3D35 and can also be evaluated on other similar products.

Abstract

Tujuan dari pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pendapatan UMKM di kelurahan Tembesi dengan melakukan pendampingan dan penyuluhan tentang metode pemasaran pada masa pandemi Covid-19. Metode yang digunakan adalah dengan melakukan pengecekan langsung masalah yang dihadapi oleh pelaku UMKM. Mitra dari kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat adalah enam pelaku UMKM di Kelurahan Tembesi yaitu Es campur, Distera taylor, tempe mendoan, warung makan, empek-empek, rujak. Pendapatan dari para mitra pelaku UMKM terpengaruh oleh pandemi Covid-19. Semua pelaku belum melakukan promosi dengan media sosial, sedangkan di masa pandemi Covid-19 mayoritas masyarakat mengurangi kegiatan diluar dan melakukan pembelian secara online. Pelaku UMKM yang bergerak dibidang makanan dan minuman, mayoritas belum memperhatikan kemasan dan tidak menggunakan label sebagai identitas dari pelaku UMKM. Dalam proses pendampingan dan penyuluhan mayoritas pelaku UMKM mengikuti arahan dari pelaku pengabdian masyarakat, meskipun ada 2 pelaku UMKM yang tidak bersedia menerapkan promosi dengan media sosial yaitu UMKM tempe mendoan dan rujak. Secara keseluruhan, pelaksanaan pengabdian masyarakat memberikan perubahan positif terhadap pendapatan pelaku UMKM.

Abstract

The research was conducted to increase the productivity of the sandblasting machine on the SSIP model at PT. XYZ. The average productivity in March 2017 was 238 pieces / hour, which is below the productivity target set at 400 pieces / hour. Refer to root cause analysis low productivity on the sandblasting machine due to machine settings. The sandblasting machine settings before being changed were turn table parameters 15Hz , rotary gun parameters 50 Hz and pressure parameters 5 bar. By conducting several experiments on parameter combinations, parameter combinations can be obtained that can reduce cycle time and do not affect to product quality. The new sandblasting machine settings are 17 Hz turn table parameters, 60 Hz rotary gun parameters and 6 bar pressure parameters. The cycle time for setting up the new sandblasting machine is 9 seconds, equivalent to a productivity of 400 pieces / hour. So that productivity increases by 68% (from 238 pieces / hour to 400 pieces / hour).
