Abstract

This research was conducted at PT. HDD, which is a Japanese PMA and is engaged in manufacturing HDD (Hard Disk Drive) components. On mid of August 2020, customer of PT. HDD revise the order quantity. Customer reduce order quantity from August to December 2020.With the phenomenon of decreasing orders, it is necessary to make efforts to reduce production costs. By reducing production costs, it is expected that the company will get profit. Reduction of production costs is carried out on labor costs and utility costs (water and electricity). To achieve this goal, management established 5 policies so that labor costs and utility costs (electricity and water) were reduced.The policies taken relate to eliminating / controlling overtime hours, stop contract employees and not recruit new employees, moving employees from the excess employee section to the understaffed section, reducing days work for 3 days (done in September 2020) and reduce work days by 2 days (done in October 2020).

Abstract

PT. ABC is a Japanese PMA that produces HDD (Hard Disk Drive) components, where the assembly process still uses a partial automatic machine whose productivity still depends on the performance of the operator to do manual work. This research aims to increase the productivity of HDD products on the assembly line. The research design used is a combination of exploratory and descriptive methods. Its research approach uses quantitative data. The variable of this study is productivity, the type of data used is primary data and secondary data. The method to increase productivity on the Crash Stop assembly line is to eliminate manual work and change the assembly machine (assemble rubber and stainless components) from partially automatic to fully automatic. The result after replacing the assembly machine from partially automatic to fully automatic was that productivity increased by 2.5 times compared to the previous one which was an increase of 4,707 pieces / person / hour (from 1,913 to 6,620 pieces / person / hour). From the research that has been done, it can be concluded that productivity on the assembly line increases after the replacement of the machine from a partially automated machine to a fully automatic machine.  In the future, it is expected that automatic machines can be applied to other production machines.

Abstract

Kebutuhan akan air bersih di Fakultas Teknik Universitas Kepulauan Riau Batam, sebagai akibat dari bertambahnya jumlah mahasiswa, staf dan dosen Fakultas Teknik adalah seringnya terjadi air mati yang bukan disebabkan oleh kurangnya sumber air, tetapi karena kurangnya perhatian manajemen fakultas terhadap penyediaan jumlah sebenarnya dari total pasokan air yang dibutuhkan oleh mahasiswa, staf dan dosen. Dengan melakukanan alias terhadap kapasitas volume penampung air, kerugian-kerugian head kecepatan aliran air baik itu dikarenakan panjang pipa (kerugian minor) maupun kelengkapan pipa lainnya (kerugian mayor), maka kita dapat mengetahui Debit aliran air di setiap titik pengeluaran air,dan mengetahui volume kapasitas penampung air bersih yang sesuai dengan asumsi kebutuhan air bersih berdasarkan jumlah Mahasiswa Fakultas Teknik Universitas Riau Kepulauan Batam. Hasil dari analisa dan perancangan, Total Head aliran air yang dibutuhkan untuk menaikkan air dari ATB menuju penampung air sebesar 13,303 m, Debit aliran dari penampung air sebesar 0,0073 m3/s, dan agar distribusi air bersih dapat terpenuhi dan tidak terjadi kendala mati air, maka volume kapasitas penampung air perlu ditambah sebesar 32,08 m3.

Abstract

Products 3D35 produced by PT. Team Metal Indonesia uses CNC machines, through two main processes, roughing process and finishing process.  The main problem faced is reject due to the remnants of the piece (chips). Chips stick to the 1 mm chuck collect gap, causing the product 3D35 not to be perfectly attached to the chuck collect, which is tilted or not in the middle position. To solve this problem, it is necessary to modify the chuck collect, by adding a gap with a width of 10 mm and a depth of 10 mm in 6 positions (one axis with the original design, a gap of 1 mm). The modifications are effective for increasing daily production output and reducing rejects in roughing process and finishing process. At roughing process, daily production output increased by 6% (31 pieces/536 pieces) and rejects decreased by 2.6% (from 4.7% to 2.1%). At finishing process, the daily production output increased by 7% (24 pieces / 342 pieces) and the reject was reduced by 1.6% (from 4.3% to 2.7%). This modification can be applied to all chuck collects used to produce product 3D35 and can also be evaluated on other similar products.

Abstract

The research was conducted to increase the productivity of the sandblasting machine on the SSIP model at PT. XYZ. The average productivity in March 2017 was 238 pieces / hour, which is below the productivity target set at 400 pieces / hour. Refer to root cause analysis low productivity on the sandblasting machine due to machine settings. The sandblasting machine settings before being changed were turn table parameters 15Hz , rotary gun parameters 50 Hz and pressure parameters 5 bar. By conducting several experiments on parameter combinations, parameter combinations can be obtained that can reduce cycle time and do not affect to product quality. The new sandblasting machine settings are 17 Hz turn table parameters, 60 Hz rotary gun parameters and 6 bar pressure parameters. The cycle time for setting up the new sandblasting machine is 9 seconds, equivalent to a productivity of 400 pieces / hour. So that productivity increases by 68% (from 238 pieces / hour to 400 pieces / hour).
