Abstract

FOR ORCHID GARDEN EDU-TOURISM OF KYAI LANGGENG PARK IN MAGELANG CITYKyai Langgeng Park in Magelang City is known as one of the primary tourist destinations in Central Java Province. The visitor number of the park, however, had been fluctuated since 2010 and tended to decline since 2015. This park has an orchid garden, which initially functioned as a propagation area. This area was proposed to be improved into a touristic object as an attempt to attract more visitors. The main objective of this study, therefore, is to produce a site plan for the garden by considering its physical landscape and educational tourism elements. The planning process included preparation, data inventory, analysis, synthesis, concept, and site planning. The site analysis applied a descriptive and spatial analysis of the biophysical landscape and tourism components. By assigning the educative and recreative tourism as the fundamental concept for the site development with orchid as the core theme, the site plan was arranged based on the spatial plan of main touristic and supporting zones. The main touristic zone as the major attraction is divided into three areas: orchid-based creativity, orchid theme garden, orchid jungle, and orchid outlet. It is apparent that the site’s slope and the prerequisite condition to support the optimum orchid’s growth have become significant factors that influenced the site plan considerably.

Abstract

Kelayan River is a small river in Banjarmasin City. Urbanization in the city has caused the physical development expansion up to the river bank and its impact has decreased the biophysical quality of the area. The objectives of this study are to identity landscape potencies and problems in Kelayan River area; to analize biophysical, social, cultural and economical aspect of Kelayan River which will influence the river landscape planning based  on biophysical aspect tosupport Kelayan River revitalization; which able to reflect waterfront city. Method of the study following the landscape planning process of Simonds (1983)consisted of preparation, collecting data, analysis, synthesis, and planning. This study uses biophysical approach modified from Astuti and Fandeli (2009). Biophysical aspects to be considered are rain fall, land coverage (Land Coverage Index IPL),  inundated area, land use (Land Use Suitability/KPL), vegetation and fauna. In analysis phase, the river is divided to seven segments based on administrative boundary. Each aspect will be analized quantitatively using scoring and weighting, as well as spatially. The analysis results biophysical quality classification i.e. very critical, critical, moderate, and good quality. The synthesis is directed to improve biophysical condition and to accommodate proposed land use through rehabilitation and conservation. The good biophysical quality segment is allocated to non-intensive rehabilitation zone, while the moderate biophysical quality segment is developed tosemi-intensive rehabilitation zone, and the critical and very critical segments are used for intensive rehabilitation zone and will be utilized for non-conservation area. Functional river with good quality of biophysical condition and reflecting waterfront city is the concept in the landscape plan for this area. The plan divides the area into three zones which are: (1) Non-intensive Rehabilitation Zone (16%), (2) Semi-intensive Rehabilitation Zone (33%), and Intensive Rehabilitation Zone (51%). The landscape plan is developed to spatial, circulation, vegetation, and settlement plans.

Abstract

ABSTRACTBeach landform is geographically formed by sand and located in sea shore. Land use change of mangrove forest into embankment and the development of tourism in Tan-jung Baru Beach has lead to the occurrence of enviromental degradation in this area. This research was aimed to identify and analyze bio-physical condition, and also to propose landscape planning concept and development toward the ecologycal landform based tourism planning. The method used in this research refers to ecological approach with the planning stages by Gold (1980). That method consists of preparation, inven-tory, analysis, synthesis, and landscape planning. Descriptive and spatial analyze were used to determine the quality ecology and tourism aspects. Spatial analysis of these aspects is use to determine the quality of ecology and tourism area of Tanjung Baru Beach. The result of this research shows that there are 4 quality categories of ecology aspect which are worst, less, rare, and good. The tourism aspect found that the category is the same as in ecology aspect. The proposed recommendation is focused on conservation and rehabilition of mangrove forest as ecological based tourism planning. Keywords: Ecology, Landform, Beach, Tourism, Landscape Planning

Abstract

Identifying the structure and transformation of Banjarmasin townscape during the Sultanate period(1526-1860): Banjarmasin city in the past was widely known as one of the main pepper producers in theArchipelago that turned the town to becoming one of the port cities in the Southeast Asia maritime tradenetwork. As a port city, Banjarmasin showed a typical landscape character similar to other port cities inSoutheast Asia. The physical landscape feature of this city inevitably was influenced by the economic factoron which trade was the primary income of the sultanate and its people. During the Sultanate period (15261860),the landscape of Banjarmasin was transformed as an impact of the political influence that related to the pepper trade, which involved foreign traders. The main objective of this study is to analyse the landscape changing of Banjarmasin during the Sultanate period by applying the historical method and spatial approach. In the spatial analysis, the landscape component of processes, space, material, and form was used to identifythe landscape structure and its transformation. The result of the study shows that the landscape of Banjarmasinevolved in the following stages: (1) port-polity of Banjar sultanate (1526-1612); (2) secondary port-city of thesultanate (1612-1663); (3) primary port of the sultanate (1663-1787); (4) primary port of the Dutch in SoutheastKalimantan (1787-1860). With regard to the research process, the spatial dimension was not only obtainedfrom the historical maps but also from written sources that indicated the location of activities or events.
