Abstract

This quantitative study aims to determine the improvement of student learning outcomes in blended learning through the use of animated videos. The study was conducted on 35 students of Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia in the Business Mathematics course. Pretest and posttest are given to subjects to determine learning outcomes before and after treatment. Obtained the average pretest and posttest amounted to 29.4 and 80.4, respectively. Based on the results of Man-Whitney tests, it can be concluded that the mean pretest and posttest scores differ significantly. This means that the use of animated videos in learning Business Mathematics can improve student learning outcomes.

Abstract

AbstractMathematics and philosophy have a pretty close relationship, compared to other sciences. The reason, philosophy is the base for learning science and mathematics is the mother of all sciences. There are also those who think that philosophy and mathematics are the mother of all existing sciences. In historical terms, the relationship between philosophy and mathematics experienced a very striking development. The question arises regarding "Is mathematics an abstract science?" "What is the origin of the formation of numbers?" And questions that are difficult to be solved by mathematics itself. Therefore we need a field of science that can bridge and accommodate questions that arise. Therefore, the field of philosophy has emerged which is able to answer matters concerning the history and development of mathematics itself. This research explains some of the problems surrounding what efforts need to be made to overcome the crisis, contradictions and paradoxes in mathematics and answer the basic questions of mathematical philosophy which currently widely used to teach and develop mathematics.Keywords: philosophy mathematics, evolution of mathematics

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the extent of generation Z's understanding of the history of mathematics. The population of this study was students of the Indonesian Teknokrat University Mathematics Education class of 2017 and 2018 who had taken philosophy and history of mathematics courses. Subject selection is done by the saturated sampling method, where the number of samples used is the same as the population. The sample used is still classified as generation Z because it was born in 1998-2001. This research is a qualitative descriptive study with data collection techniques using a questionnaire containing 20 questions. From the research results, it is stated that the history of mathematics is very important to be applied and integrated into the mathematics learning process. This can be shown by obtaining the percentage of achievement of the indicators in positive questions of 75%. The understanding of the history of mathematics according to generation Z, namely 74% can foster enthusiasm, skills, and confidence in the learning process, 84% can be used as a strategy in the learning process, 74% increase motivation to explore mathematics, 68% can compare mathematics with ancient techniques and current techniques, 58% can know more or less the origins of mathematics and 84% know more about the character behind the formulas used in mathematics. However, as many as 53% of generation Z still have a low interest in the history of mathematics and 63% of generation Z give an opinion that the history of mathematics does not change their impression that mathematics is scary.Keywords:  generation z; history of mathematics; understandingDOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/mtk/v9i2.pp116-126

Abstract

In this study, learning is carried out by Blended Learning (BL) with the SPADA in Calculus/ Mathematics courses in terms understanding of student concepts. This study aims to see the effectiveness of the application of learning with BL in terms of understanding students concepts. The study used a quasi-experimental technique with a population of all Indonesian Teknokrat University students. The sampling technique uses random sampling and to test its effectiveness a T-test statistic is used with α = 5%. Obtained student learning outcomes in the experiment class with an average of 78,48 higher than control class and standard deviation 9,96. Based on the results of the T test, it can be concluded that this learning is effectively applied. The conclusion of this study shows that the application of learning in BL is effective when viewed from the understanding of student concepts. This is because BL learning is able to combine face-to-face learning with learning in a network that is in accordance with the current development. Students are more interested and motivated to study hard and look for learning resources that are getting closer to them through devices or computers. Abstract

Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk: 1) memberikan pengetahuan bagi siswa terkait soal-soal berbasis literasi numerasi matematika, 2) melatih keterampilan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal berbasis literasi numerasi matematika. Metode yang digunakan dengan memberikan pelatihan dan pendampingan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal berbasis literasi numerasi matematika. Pelatihan dilakukan secara virtual dengan aplikasi google classroom dan zoom. Data diperoleh dari hasil pre-test dan post-test kemudian diuji perbedaan dua rata-ratanya dengan menggunakan SPSS. Diperoleh nilai rata-rata pre-test 44,79 sedangkan rata-rata post-test 73,74. Sedangkan nilai sig.2-tailed adalah 0,0175%. Hasil pengabdian pada masyarakat ini menunjukkan bahwa: 1) pemberian pelatihan soal berbasis literasi numerasi ini memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan pada hasil belajar siswa. 2) pelaksanaan pelatihan soal berbasis literasi numerasi matematika terlaksana dengan baik dan dapat dinyatakan berhasil. Kata kunci: literasi, numerasi, matematika, pelatihan

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan mengerjakan soal logika matematika dalam kaitannya dengan gaya belajar. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan yaitu kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif. Partisipan dalam penelitian ini adalah 12 mahasiswa program studi Pendidikan Matematika Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia. Dalam penelitian ini, tes digunakan untuk menilai kemampuan penalaran soal logika matematika mahasiswa dan angket digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi jenis gaya belajar siswa, serta wawancara guna memperoleh informasi berdasarkan cara belajar yang lebih dominan pada mahasiswa. Diperoleh hasil penelitian : pertama, kemampuan mengerjakan soal logika matematika pada setiap gaya belajar berbeda. Kedua, siswa dengan gaya belajar visual cenderung memiliki tingkat penalaran konsep pada kategori sedang. Ketiga, siswa auditori cenderung memiliki tingkat penalaran konsep pada kategori sedang. Keempat, siswa kinestetik memiliki tingkat penalaran konsep pada kategori tinggi.

Abstract

Hasil belajar yang kurang memuaskan merupakan indikasi strategi pembelajaran yang belum optimal serta kurangnya pemahaman siswa terhadap materi yang diberikan. Salah satu variasi strategi pembelajaran yang dapat meningkatkan kemam­pu­an pemahaman konsep siswa yaitu strategi pembelajaran PQ4R. Strategi ini diguna­kan untuk melihat efektivitas serta peningkatan pemaham­an konsep matematika siswa jika dibandingkan dengan pembelajaran konvensional. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian quasi eksperimen dengan populasi seluruh siswa SMP Negeri 8 Bandarlampung. Melalui teknik Cluster Random Sampling terpilih kelas VII E dan VII F sebagai sampel penelitian. Berdasarkan analisis data, diperoleh rata-rata pemahaman konsep siswa, rata-rata pencapaian indikator serta rata-rata peningkatannya pada pem­belajaran PQ4R lebih baik. Sehingga dapatdisimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran dengan strategi PQ4R efektif dalam meningkatkan kemam­puan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa.
