Abstract

Remaja putri dengan disabilitas intelektual (DI) mengalami pubertas seperti remaja pada umumnya. Namun, mereka kesulitan merespon berbagai perubahan dalam pubertas karena keterbatasan intelektual dan hambatan dalam kemampuan adaptif, sehingga mereka sangat rentan mengalami kekerasan seksual. Penelitian dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengetahuan remaja putri dengan DI ringan dalam menghadapi masa pubertas. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara telepon pada tiga remaja putri dengan DI ringan berusia kronologis 10-16 tahun, serta ibu dan guru dari tiga partisipan. Data dianalisis dengan analisis tematik. Triangulasi dilakukan untuk memenuhi keabsahan data. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa partisipan memiliki pengetahuan dasar terkait perubahan tubuh, menstruasi, serta bagaimana melakukan proteksi diri dalam relasi dengan laki-laki. Pengetahuan pada topik-topik itu belum cukup lengkap, sehingga ada sikap negatif yang ditunjukkan. Partisipan juga masih kesulitan dalam melakukan beberapa kegiatan bantu diri di masa pubertas. Pengetahuan yang dimiliki para partisipan cukup beragam. Mereka memiliki pengetahuan praktis dan prosedural, namun keterampilan mereka belum cukup berkembang. Penelitian berikutnya dapat dilakukan untuk menyusun intervensi bagi peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan remaja putri dengan DI ringan dalam menghadapi perubahan di masa pubertas.

Abstract

This research was aim to investigate the enhancing of working memory function of children with mild intellectual disability with 6-7 years old mental age after intervention with Padjadjaran Memory Rehearshal Application (PMRA) Padjadjaran Memory Rehearshal Application (PMRA), with assessed their performance in other task that did not give in intervention, digit span and Knox cube. This research used Quasi Experiment Within Subject Design, which involved 5 children with mild intellectual disability with 6-7 years old mental age. The data analysis used Wilcoxon Matched-Pairs Signed-Ranks, the Digit Span task and Knox Cube showed that PMRA could enhance the phonological loop (Tobs=Ttab) but did not enhance visuo-spatial component (Tobs>Ttab). PMRA can be used to enhance participant’s working memory function in holding and using information that processed verbally.

Abstract

Sexual education at puberty is needed for young women with mild intellectual disabilities (ID) to help with puberty. Through sexual education, young women can have a better understanding of the changes that occur in their bodies and the right behavior to show in the social environment. This study aims to determine the knowledge of inclusive teachers about sexual education at puberty for young women with mild intellectual disabilities. This research was conducted using the principles of qualitative research. Data obtained based on interviews using telephone media to 4 inclusive school teachers in Bandung. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis techniques. The results show that knowledge about the characteristics of ID is still not mastered by all teachers. Knowledge about how to teach students with mild ID in the academic settings and the characteristics of puberty is owned by the four teachers based on their experience. However, all teachers do not yet have complete knowledge about the scope of sexual education material that needs to be provided as well as how to provide effective sexual education for young women with mild ID. Further research can be carried out to develop an intervention program design to improve the knowledge and skils of inclusive teachers to provide sexual education at puberty
