Abstract

Canang is a Hindu religious ceremony means. This study is aimed at finding out the influence price of canang and the income consumers toward the demand for canang and the nature of price elasticity of canang and income. The study used proportionate stratified random sampling on 97 families, The analysis by using regression model double’s log equation. The result indicates that the price of canang during the commond day and good day have positively significant influence toward the demand for canang, but on celebration day no effect and the income of consumer on the common day, good day and  celebration day have positively significant influence. The nature of price elasticity of canang is inelastic and income elasticity showed normal goods.

Abstract

Zakat as one of the main pillars in Islamic teachings has a strategic role in increasing people's welfare and income, especially in Indonesia, a country with a majority Muslim population. Through effective zakat management, economic balance between community groups who have excess wealth (muzaki) and groups who need it (mustahik) can be achieved. This article discusses the role of zakat and socio-economic responsibility in increasing people's income in Indonesia. Using descriptive associative methods and by collecting various information that is in line with the topic to be discussed. Based on the analysis, zakat is proven to make a positive contribution in reducing economic disparities and improving people's quality of life.
