Abstract

Self care is one of the nursing theories which is a form of increasing client independence so that clients can function optimally. This study aims to analyze the relationship of self care with the quality of life of patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in Antang Health Center, Makassar City. The design of this study is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional study design. The population in this study were patients with Type 2 diabetes mellitus at the Antang Health Center in Makassar City. The number of samples was 38 people using total sampling technique. Data analysis used Chi-Square test with a significance level of α = 0.05. The results showed that patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in Antang Health Center who had Self care management had good diabetes as much as 16% while self care was less than 22%. Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patients in Antang Health Center who have high quality of life are 39.5% and the quality of life is as low as 60.5%. Statistical tests obtained p value (0,000)

Abstract

Patients undergoing hemodialysis will continue to experience common problems such as their non-compliance with fluid intake. This condition will cause hepervolemia which has a risk of cardiovascular risk and hypertension. The success of fluid management can be measured by Intradialytic Weight Gain (IDWG). One that can affect IDWG is self-efficacy. This study was to determine the effectiveness of self-efficacy training in increasing adherence to fluid intake of patients undergoing hemodialysis. This study used a quasi-experimental design pre and post test with control group. Sampling used a total sampling of 22 patients. Analais statistics use paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test. The results showed that self-efficacy training in the intervention group could reduce IDWG fluid intake (p = 0.000). Whereas in the control group the training did not significantly reduce IDWG fluid intake (p = 0.302). The results of the analysis using independent sample t-test in the two groups showed a significant difference in self-efficacy training for fluid intake compliance (p = 0.043). Keywords: self-efficacy; fluid intake; intradialytic weight gain hemodialysis (IDWG) ABSTRAK Pasien yang mejalani hemodialisi akan tetap mengalami permasalahan umum seperti ketidakpatuhan mereka terhadap intake cairan.
