Abstract

This study intends to examine the question of the controversy of naskh on verses of tolerance with verses of war. These issues are (1) what is meant by verses of tolerance and verses of war in the Qur'an, and (2) what is the ulama's view of the dualism of the two types of verses? For this reason, this study uses the literature review method with hermeneutical-critical and comparative analysis. This study produces several things. Firstly, there are verses of tolerance in the Qur'an, which amount to 114 according to some scholars, or 140 verses according to other scholars, and verses of war against idolaters which number not less than 22 verses. Secondly, theoretically the scholars have discussed the assumption of dualism (ta’āruḍ) between verses of tolerance and verses of war in the study of the Qur'an. Islamic intellectuals such as Ibn Sallāmah, al-Shāmi, and Abdullah Bin Baz acknowledge the existence of ta'āruḍ, and therefore they also state that verses of tolerance have been replaced (mansūkhah) by verses of war as a way to resolve the conflict. Some other Islamic intellectuals such as Mustafa Zaid, Ahmad Ḥijāzi al-Saqā, and Yusuf Qardhāwi denied this assumption. On the basis of the study of siyāq al-kalām and munāsabah, in addition to the analysis of its historicity (asbāb al-nuzūl), these verses can be compromised, so that all the contexts are stated to apply. The views of the two types of scholars, hermeneutically, cannot be separated from the influence of the ideology surrounding each other's lives.

Abstract

Abstract

This paper aims to explain the opportunities and challenges of Islamic da'wah in interfaith marriages between Muslim men and Ahl al-Kitab women from the point of view of the interpretation of the Qur'an. The research is directed to explore the perspective of da'wah in answering polemics about interfaith marriages. The study method in this paper is a qualitative study with the muqaran (contextual) interpretation method. The results of this study explain that it is permissible for Muslim men to marry Ahlu Kitab women (as stated in al-Maidah: 5) as an opportunity for preaching and preaching among non-Muslims in addition to challenges. This da'wah opportunity can be seen in the existence of a patriarchal social system, where the husband has a substantial, more dominant role as the leader of the family, making it possible to convey enlightenment about Islam in a dialogical, humanistic, mauidzah hasanah and promising way to his wife so that she can know the truth of Islam, understand it to the fullest. Believe it. Meanwhile, the challenge Muslim husbands face in da'wah is the necessity of having strong faith in addition to good da'wah competence so that, on the one hand, he does not waver in his faith and his da'wah efforts also do not disturb the harmony of his relationship with his wife. The results of this study provide space for da'wah to non-Muslims through interfaith marriages for competent Muslim men.

Abstract

Purpose - This paper aims to explain religious freedom in the context of Islamic Da’wa according to the interpretation of the Qur'an.Method - This study used a qualitative approach to literature (library research) with thematic methods.Result - The results of this study have explained that religious freedom is one of the values guaranteed in Islamic Da’wa. In addition to strictly prohibiting religious coercion on everyone, the Qur'an also clarifies the limits of the missionary duties of the Prophets and scholars (dā'i), which is only to convey the truth of Islamic teachings continuously to humanity by calling on them with the wisdom, the good advice ( mauidzah hasanah ), the best dialogue (jidāl ahsan), and the good example (qudwah hasana ). The Qur'an also emphasizes the diversity of human attitudes in accepting Islamic Da’wa is a sunnah of Allah SWT ., so any attempt to force them to become believers is impossible. The essence of this meaning is at least contained in the interpretation of al-Baqarah: 256, Yūnus : 99 and al-Gāsyiyah : 21-22.Implication - This study suggests a humanist Da’wa that always respects the freedom of mad'u in determining their religion without any element of coercion.Originality - This study is the first study that tries to analyze religious freedom from the perspective of Islamic Da’wa.***Tujuan - Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan kebebasan beragama dalam konteks dakwah Islam menurut tafsir Al-Qur'an.Metode – Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif kepustakaan (library research) dengan metode tematik.

Abstract

This study discusses the gap between the normative communication principles of the Qur'an and modern interpersonal communication theory. Tabligh is a prophetic duty carried out by preachers to convey the message of Islam to humanity, both individually and collectively. This study is a qualitative literature review using thematic interpretation methods. Primary data were obtained by compiling Qur'anic verses related to the principles of tabligh, while secondary data consisted of various literature on interpersonal communication and da'wah studies. The data were analyzed using content analysis, examining the meaning of Qur'anic verses related to the principles of tabligh and communication. This study yielded the following findings. First, the Qur'an contains several principles of tabligh (Islamic teaching) and communication that are relevant to interpersonal communication theory, including qaulan husnan (good words), qaulan sadidan (true words), qaulan layyinan (gentle words), qaulan balighan (effective words), qaulan ma'rufan (good words), and qaulan kariman (noble words). This indicates that the Qur'an places honesty, empathy, politeness, kindness, and effectiveness as fundamental principles in conveying the message of Islamic propagation (tabligh). The concept of tabligh in the Qur'an thus reflects not only the activity of conveying Islamic teachings but also ethical and humanistic interpersonal communication practices. This study can contribute to the development of Islamic communication studies and strengthen the relevance of Qur'anic values in the practice of tabligh and communication in society.
