Abstract

The aim of the research is to evaluate the effectiveness of micro fertigation system and application of cows fermented urine (uriferm) for chili (Capsicum annum sp.) Cultivation.  The micro fertigation system with 0.5 mm inside diameter micro-tubing is used to control the flow from outlets along lateral.  The lateral with 5/16 inch inside diameter is made of soft PVC hose.  The result of the research showed that the micro fertigation system is running well. Randomized block design with four replications are used for the field experiment.  There are four treatments i.e. conventional culture by watering can (A), uriferm fertigation (B), non uriferm fertigation (C), and Hartus formula fertigation (D).  The laboratory analysis showed that the properties of uriferm increase in composition compared to non uriferm and used successfully as nutrition.  The micro fertigation system showed better result compared to the watering can on variable observation of plant and root development of chili.  The field experiments showed that the micro fertigation system significantly reduced volume of water used by 49.5% and raised chili yield by 61.2% compared to watering can.  The uriferm fertigation (B) showed better result compared to other treatments on wet weight of chili and water productivity.  The total income from 390 m2 irrigated land with micro fertigation system was about Rp 2,961,700,00/season and  feasible to apply with B/C ratio =  1.51, IRR value = 27.49% and NPV = Rp 387,413.83 at discount rate 9% per annum.   Key words: micro fertigation system, uriferm, chili, water productivity, small plots

Abstract

Pembangunan Jangka Panjang I (PJP-I), sektor pertanian yang didukung pembangunan irigasi merupakan prioritas pembangunan ekonomi. Dalam kurun waktu 1969-1993 telah diperoleh hasil-hasil sebagai berikut:direhabilitasi jaringan irigasi seluas 2.9 juta ha di Jawa, Sumatra, Sulawesi, Nusa Tenggara dan Kalimantanluas areal sawah beririgasi mencapai 5.7 juta ha pada tahun 1993 akibat pembangunan jaringan irigasi baru seluas 1.6 juta haluas lahan sawah beririgasi teknis, semi teknis, sederhana dan sebagainya, bertambah dari luas 3.388 juta ha tahun 1968 menjadi 4.779 juta ha pada tahun 1985, dan 8.227.149 ha pada tahun 1993.

Abstract

Kajian tentang tanah gambut banyak di lakukan dalam rangkausaha pengembangan lahan gambut sebagai lahan pertanian. Penelitian yang mendasar tentang gambut, khususnya sifat gambut tropika di Indonesia masih sangat terbatas. Pengetahuan tentang sifat gambut tropika sangat penting karena selainsifatnya yang sangat khusus, data tersebut diperlukan apabila ingin mengembangkan lahan gambut sebagai laban pertanian.

Abstract

This paper describes potentials as well as obstacles in developing wetland for agricultures. Historical backgrounds of wetland utilization for agricultures Indonesia and wetland definition by Ramsar Convention are highlighted. Special emphasis is given to explain physical and hydrological conditions of wetland and opportirnities to develop sustainable agricultural activities based on wetland categories. Current problems in developing wetland, sucsh as land degradation and lost of wetland are enlightened, and a little note is aroused to elucidate the failure of One Million Hectares Project in Central Kalimantan. Finally, prospectivetechnologies for controlling water table were proposed.

Abstract

A micro fertigation system was designed using local components, simple and easy to build, operate and repair by farmers. Evaluation of hydraulic performances consists oflong-path size in emitters, relationship between discharge and head in emitter, head loss along the lateral, and emission uniformity. The result of the research indicated that the micro fertigation system with 0,5 mm inside diameter micro-tubing used to control the flow from outlets along laterals. The individual microtube was 0,6 m long and spaced at 0,3 m interval along laterals. The discharge was adjusted by stop valves and ranges from 0,48 -2, 74 ltrs/h at operating heads of 0,2-1,5 m. The emission exponent, x was 0,86, and the head-discharge equation was Qe= 1,94 H0,86. The coefficient of manufacturing variation, CV was 0,043 from 125 samples of emitters, and an interpretation of values was excellent. Accordingly allowable length of lateral (at operation head, H = 1 m) 15 meters of length PVC hose ¼ inch size was acceptable and 25 meters of length PVC hose 5/16 inch size was acceptable.
