Abstract

This study aims to describe the forms of social criticism contained in the 2018 PEKSIMINAS monologue text, namely Aeng, Balada Sumarah, Tolong, and Prodo Imitatio. This research includes a type of qualitative descriptive research. The data is collected in the form of quotes related to the form of social criticism, including poverty, crime, family disorganization, the problem of the younger generation, and bureaucracy. Next the data tabulated into the data tabulation table. The next step is to analyze the data that has been collected in accordance with the study of literature that researchers use and a literary sociology approach so that researchers can describe this research data. With qualitative descriptive research, researcher can describe social criticism in a collection of PEKSIMINAS 2018 monologue texts. The results show that in the text of the Aeng monologue by Putu Wijaya and Ballad Sumarah  by Tentrem Lestari found social criticism of poverty, crime, disorganization of the family, the problem of the younger generation, and bureaucracy. From the monologue Tolong by N. Riantiarno was found social criticism about poverty, crime, disorganization of the family, bureaucracy. Moreover the social criticism regarding the problem of the younger generation was not found. Furthermore, the monologue text of the Prodo Imitatio by Arthur S. Nalan was found social criticism of poverty, crime, the problem of the younger generation, bureaucracy and social critics regarding family disorganization was not found. Of the four monologue texts the most prominent social criticism is social criticism of crime.
