Abstract

English is interesting. In learning English, we start from learning the basic things. A part of Speech is the basic aspect in English. Verbs is parts of speech. By knowing verbs, a person can make simple sentence. It can be used to master vocabulary and to motivate someone to be fluently in English. The title of this research is an analyzing verb in “A Fresh N Fruity Spring” story book by Lauren Cecil. The aim of this research is to find out verbs in a story book, in order to be mastered in vocabulary and making simple sentence from it. The method which will be applied in this research is a descriptive qualitative method. Key words: parts of speech, verb, story book

Abstract

AbstrakKlausa nominal (klausa kata benda) adalah anak kalimat yang digunakan sebagai kata benda dalam kalimat. Klausa nominal dapat digunakan sebagai subjek atau objek langsung dari kata kerja, sebagai kata benda predikat, sebagai obyek preposisi, atau sebagai apositif. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis kesalahan siswa dalam menyusun klausa nominal. Pentingnya penelitian untuk menganalisis kesalahan siswa dalam menyusun klausa nominal mengusulkan sebuah pertanyaan mendesak: jenis kesalahan apa yang siswa buat dalam menyusun klausa nominal? jenis kesalahan yang biasanya dilakukan oleh siswa dalam membuat klausa nominal. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Untuk mengumpulkan data, penulis menggunakan penelitian lapangan. Penulis memberikan tes tata bahasa sederhana klausa nominal kepada siswa semester III di Universitas Indraprasta PGRI. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa siswa membuat kesalahan saat menyusun klausa Nominal yang dimulai dengan kata tanya (question words), Klausa Nominal dengan If / whether, klausa nominal dengan -that. Kata Kunci: Kesalahan, Klausa, Klausa Nominal

Abstract

Learning a foreign language is not so tedious and troublesome through the internet software to be the easiest platform, lots to avail and reach, such as Duolingo. Duolingo deliberately carry the concept of "playing while learning" to make it more fun and easier to use by all ages. This research aim is to find out the effects of using Duolingo towards student’s vocabulary mastery. It also expected to enable tutors to utilize electronic media such as Duolingo to support more modern and interesting teaching activities such as mobile or web-based applications. This research is an experimental research to find effects of using Duolingo (x) towards student’s vocabulary mastery (y) in controlled condition. The experimental method used is true-experimental design, the researchers used Post-test Only Control. The sampling technique used by the researcher is simple random sampling, which is the experimental class VIII consisting of 30 students, as well as the control class VIII consisting of 30 students. The result of student learning English with media Duolingo's Android Application has a positive effect compared to conventional student approaches.

Abstract

The Effects of RAFT Strategy on Students' Writing Skills on Writing Descriptive Text of 7th Grade Students at SMPN 3 Cikarang Barat. This study aims to find out the effect of using the RAFT Strategy on students' descriptive text writing skills in the second semester of 7th Grade Students at SMPN 3 Cikarang Barat. This research uses descriptive quantitative method. The research method used is descriptive quantitative method. Data collection techniques using interviews, observation, tests and documentation. Aspects that are assessed in writing descriptive texts are the results of learning to write descriptive texts, evaluations, and summaries. The results of the research on students' descriptive text writing skills using the RAFT strategy in grade VII students of SMPN 3 Cikarang Barat obtained an average score of 51.51 with a sufficient category. This means that students as a whole are able to write descriptive text using the RAFT strategy. As evidenced by the number of 184 students, 36 of them scored above the KKM (Minimum Completeness Criteria) and 16 students scored below the KKM. Keywords: RAFT Strategy, Writing Skills, Descriptive Text
