Abstract

Bali is a province that has significant economic strength in various sectors. Bali has proximity to the West Nusa Tenggara and East Nusa Tenggara Provinces, and financial interaction can occur. This study analyzes the spillover effect of the Balinese economy on West Nusa Tenggara and East Nusa Tenggara. It looks at the West Nusa Tenggara and East Nusa Tenggara economies' response when the Bali economic sector experiences a shock. The method used is VECM using quarterly real GRDP data of 35 observations. This study found a positive relationship between the service sector and the Bali industry in West Nusa Tenggara's economic growth. The Balinese industrial sector also has a positive relationship with East Nusa Tenggara's economic growth. The spillover effect did not occur between the Bali industrial sector in general and the development of West Nusa Tenggara and the Bali service sector in general and East Nusa Tenggara's economic growth. The Balinese economy, which has a spillover effect on West Nusa Tenggara and East Nusa Tenggara's economic growth in several sectors, can be used as a reference for the government to make economic development policies.

Abstract

The agricultural sector plays an essential role in the economy of a country. This critical role cannot be separated from the main component of the farm sector, namely, farmers. To support economic growth and poverty alleviation through the agricultural industry, the welfare of farmers must be a concern. This study aims to analyze the effect of the income of farmers and farm laborers on agricultural economic growth. The method used is ECM with 24 quarterly data observations. The price index received by farmers approximates farmers' incomes, farm laborers' incomes are approximated by the daily real wages of farm laborers, and agricultural economic growth is approximated by the real GRDP of the agricultural sector. The results showed that the income of farmers and farm laborers during the research period had a positive trend. In the long-term and short-term equation, the payment of farmers and farm laborers has a significant positive effect on the economic growth of the agricultural sector. An increase in the income of farmers and farm laborers also followed the increase in agricultural economic development. These results can be used as a reference for the government to make policies to increase the income of farmers and farm laborers.

Abstract

Rice is the main food for most Indonesians. With much natural resources, Indonesia can naturally fulfill its own rice consumption needs. However, Indonesia actually relies on imports to meet consumption needs. Even Indonesia continues to import while rice production is volatility surplus to maintain domestic rice prices. Based on these problems, this study aims to analyze the relationship of volume of imported rice with rice production, domestic rice prices, and prices of imported rice. The method used is descriptive analysis and Vector Error Correction Model (VECM). In the long-term, rice production and domestic rice prices have significant effect on Indonesia's rice import volume. In short-term, rice production and domestic rice prices have significant effect on Indonesian rice import volume. The results of the causality test show that there is a two-way relationship between Indonesian rice import volume and Indonesian production rice. Meanwhile, a one-way relationship occurs when imported rice volumes influenced by prices of domestic rice.

Abstract

Abstract

Covid-19 pandemic that has hit the world has made almost all countries limit the mobility of their residents to prevent the transmission of the Corona virus. Indonesia has also made similar efforts through Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB). However, these efforts have not been optimal because they are faced with obstacles to the uneven distribution of the population and unfavorable socio-economic conditions. This study aims to analyze the effect of regional socio-economic and demographic characteristics on Covid-19 in terms of the number of confirmed cases and deaths. The analysis was conducted at the provincial level with a total of 34 observations and using multiple linear regression analysis. Socio-economic characteristics are approximated by the share of the province's GRDP, the percentage of the poor, and the Human Development Index (HDI). Demographic characteristics are approximated by population density and population projections. This study found that the high confirmed and death cases of Covid-19 were influenced by poor socio-economic conditions, as well as densely populated demographic conditions and a high population of an area. The results of this study also found a significant effect of the provincial GDRP share and HDI on socio-economic characteristics as well as population projections on demographic characteristics on confirmed and Covid-19 deaths cases in Indonesia.
