Abstract

This study aims to describe the rhetoric that Marah Rusli used in Memang Jodoh. The problem of this research is how is the rhetoric used by Marah Rusli in Memang Jodoh. To solve the problem and the purpose of the study used descriptive qualitative method while the data collection technique used in this study was literature study. The results of the analysis show that the rhetoric used by Marah Rusli is figures of speech, proverb, and imagery. The figures of speech used consist of the metaphorical, personification, hyperbole, repetition, and periphery. The proverb that Marah Rusli uses consist of advice proverb and idioms. While the imagery contained in Memang Jodoh is visual imagery, auditory imagery, motion imagery, and feeling imagery.

Abstract

Today, children literature no longer  written by  adults, but children can share their creativity and imagination in this literature. Some publishers accommodate this creativity by publishing children books  named PCPK and KKPK. Children books is very interesting because it is written, read and enjoyed by children. In writing the story, the children have different styles with adults. They reveal things according to their own world. In that regard, not an anomaly if the writer want to analize it,  especially in terms of narrative structure and children literature genre in KKPK. The purpose of this study to examine the narrative structure and children literature genre in the stories of  Ibuku Chayank, Muach! This study used descriptive qualitative method. Sources of data in this study is the short story Ibuku Chayank, Muach! written by young writers, Izzati. The results of this study indicate a narrative structure in any event intertwined with slick and straightforward. One event to another is presented with a sequence so that readers can easily understand the story. Genre Ibuku Chayank, Muach! is realism because  Ibuku Chayank, Muach ! tells about the life that happens in real life.

Abstract

Dayak jalai has some folkflore that has been revitalized in the form of comics. One of those comics about Gemalaq Kemisiq, Kampung Tanjung’s damung. This research will represent about the masculinity of Gemalaq Kemisiq which cointained in the Gemalaq Kemisiq comic and reveal the masculinity of the Gemalaq Kemisiq characters. The method used is a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques using literature review. The analysis show that in the Gemalaq Kemisiq comic seen that Gemalaq Kemisiq performs actions and behaviours that represent masculinity while the masculinity traits contained four characteristic namely not using female goods (no sissy stuf), being an important character ( be a big whell), being a person who has strength (be a sturdy oak), and also shows courage (give em hell).

Abstract

This research aimed to describe the variety of Javanese culture that contained in novel Mars by using the theory of literary anthropology. The source of data was novel Mars.The purpose of this paper is to describe the Javanese cultures on novel Mars. Data were analyzed using descriptive-qualitative method with literature review technique. The results of the analysis showed the diversity of Javanese culture that exists in the novel of Mars in the form of traditions and customs, arts, traditional buildings, religions, and traditional beliefs. Javanese culture has been eroded, but some are still routinely held every year.

Abstract

This research aims to reveal the Dayak culture types which contained in the novel Batas and describe the existence of the culture with the conditions of modern society. This research uses a literary anthropological approach that encompasses tradition, customs, myths, and cultural events in past events. The literature study method is used to collect data. Source of data comes from Batas, while data is analyzed by descriptive analysis method.  The result of the analysis shows that Dayak culture in the novel Batas is a human life tool in the form of mandau and chopsticks; a livelihood in the form of farming and hunting; knowledge system in the form of shifting cultivation systems and preserving forests; social system in the form of custom fines and decapitaing; religious system in the form of spiritual animals, beliefs and Dayak devices; the language and literary system in the form of mantra.; and Dayak ethnic arts in the form of sound art and traditional musical instruments. Dayak culture has been eroded, but there is also a shift in value and meaning because it is no longer relevant to the condition of society today.
