Abstract

This research is based on the conception of the Dayak Bakumpai tribe towards traditional medicine. This study analyzed ethnomedical lexicons in traditional Dayak Bakumpai tribal medicine. The purpose of this study is to describe the ethnomedicin lexicon and the techniques of composition in the traditional treatment of the Dayak Bakumpai tribe. The method used in this study is qualitative descriptive method. The data in this study were ethnomedicin lexicons in traditional medicine and the techniques of composition in traditional medicine of the Dayak Bakumpai tribe obtained from informants in Barito Kuala Regency, South Kalimantan. Data collection techniques used are the method of referencing, note taking, and library research. The instrument of this study was the researcher as observer and observation sheets. Data analysis includes the classification of ethnomedicin lexicon based on the types of medicinal plants and their functions and the techniques of composition in the traditional treatment of the Dayak Bakumpai tribe. Then, describe, analyze, transcribe, interpret, and conclude the results of the study. From the results of the ethnomedicin lexicon analysis in traditional Dayak Bakumpai tribal medicine, 40 ethnomedicin lexicons were found in traditional Dayak Bakumpai tribal medicine based on the types of medicinal plants and their functions. Then, plant parts are used for medicine, namely roots, tubers (rhizomes), stems, leaves, shoots, and parts of plant skin. Furthermore, the techniques of composition in the traditional treatment of the Dayak Bakumpai tribe are carried out by drinking, smearing, rubbing, sticking, evaporating, and watering to the body part (bathing).

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan fungsi tradisi lisan susurungan bagi masyarakat Banjar Hulu. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik yang dilakukan untuk mengumpulkan data adalah teknik rekam dan teknik catat. Prosedur pengolahan data dilakukan dengan empat tahapan, yaitu: (1) transkripsi rekaman data, (2) klasifikasi data, (3) penerjemahan data, dan (4) menganalisis data. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah: (1) data primer, yaitu data yang diperoleh dari informan di lapangan sebanyak 4 orang yang dikategorikan sebagai penutur tradisi lisan susurungan yang bertempat tinggal di Kabupaten Hulu Sungai Selatan, Kabupaten Hulu Sungai Tengah, Kabupaten Hulu Sungai Utara, dan Kabupaten Tabalong; dan (2) data sekunder, yaitu data pelengkap yang diperoleh dari hasil penelitian yang sudah ada yang terkait dengan penelitian tradisi lisan Banjar Hulu susurungan. Dari hasil sumber data primer di lapangan diperoleh hasil perekaman, yaitu sebanyak 27 tuturan. Akan tetapi, dalam tahap analisis data hanya disajikan hasil teks tuturan yang dianggap mewakili masing-masing fungsi susurungan. Hasil penelitian ditemukan ada tiga fungsi tradisi lisan susurungan bagi masyarakat Banjar Hulu, yaitu(1) fungsi susurungan untuk menguji kepandaian seseorang, 2) fungsi susurungan untuk mengisi waktu pada saat bergadang menjaga jenazah, dan 3) fungsi susurungan untuk dapat melebihi orang lain.

Abstract

This study discusses the verbal language of witnesses in uncovering cases of domestic violence in the jurisdiction of Banjarmasin Police by using the Halliday consept and forensic linguistics approach. The purpose of this study is to describe the verbal language in revealing the victim witness violence in the home (domestic violence) in the jurisdiction of Banjarmasin Police. The method used in this research is the descriptive qualitative method. The procedure of this study conducted in three stages, namely: 1) collecting data; 2) analyzing the data that has been provided; and 3) presenting the results of the data analysis. The data in this research are speeches of witness in domestic violence cases which were experienced and reported to the police, in January 2017. Data were collected by using the following techniques: 1) observation, 2) documentation, and 3) interview. The analysis shows that there are four functions of language used by the victim witness in uncovering cases of domestic violence, namely: 1) the personal function, 2) regulatory function, 3) representation function, and 4) heuristic function.

Abstract

of politeness of directive acts on parents' speech in Ngumbul Village of Pacitan Regency, and the scope of the directive acts on the children's and parent's speech in Ngumbul Village of Pacitan. This research uses descriptive method with qualitative approach. The object of research is the politeness of directive acts on the speech of children and parents in Ngumbul Village, Pacitan regency, East Java. The data in this study are oral data or interviews of adolescents aged 12—15 years old and parents conducted in December 2017. Techniques of collecting data are done in stages, namely: first, held the data collection directive acts on children's speech to their parents colected. In collecting the data recorder and sheet observation format (observation) and field notes are used. The recording was  transcribed and analyzed based on the theory used. Based on the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that there are 8 directive acts, namely: asking, commanding, advising, rebuking, inviting, suggesting and, persuade, in the form of politeness directive acts on the child's speech to his parents, Then, there are 6 directive acts, namely: asking, commanding, advising, suggesting, interrogating, and scolding. in the manner of the directive act  on the parent's speech to the children. Furthermore, there are 5 scale of politeness, namely: cost-benefit scale, optionality scale, indirectness scale, authority scale, and social distance scale in the scale of politeness of directive acts on children's and parent's speech in Ngumbul Village of Pacitan Regency
