Abstract

This scientific paper discusses the importance of soft contact lens care knowledge for users in Padang Citra Optics. This study aims to determine: Knowledge, care  for users, the use , the impact of wearing and maintaining soft contact and also handling of the use and maintenance of soft contact lenses at Optik Citra Padang. This research design uses descriptive quantitative method. The population in this study was all patients wearing soft contact lenses at Optik Citra Padang in the period 15 July 2021-15 August 2021. Data were collected through questionnaires and research instruments using a Check List. The results showed that the respondents did not fully know the proper and correct care of soft contact lenses, this was seen as many as 24 respondents (53%) knew the correct soft contact lens care procedure and as many as 21 respondents (47%) did not know the treatment procedures. correct soft contact lenses, 21 respondents (47%) understand how to properly put on and remove soft contact lenses and 24 respondents (53%) do not understand how to properly install soft contact lenses, 20 respondents (44.40%) know about the impact of wearing and maintaining soft contact lenses that are not up to standard and as many as 25 respondents (55.60) do not know about the impact of wearing and maintaining soft contact lenses that are not up to standard, 14 respondents (31%) know how to handle the use and care of soft contact lenses and 31 respondents (69%) do not know how to handle from wearing soft contact lenses. There are several suggestionsFor RO to provide information to, For opticians, it is recommended to improve the quality of eye health services to the public, for academies, it is recommended to improve the quality of education. (4) For the public, it is recommended that when wearing and caring for contact lenses, more attention should be paid to use and care for them properly so as not to cause an impact on eye health.Keywords Soft Contact Lens, Wearers, Optics.

Abstract

The use of gadgets has become an integral part of daily life for elementary school children. This study aims to examine the impact of gadget usage on visual acuity among Grade 6A students at SD Negeri 149 Pekanbaru. The research was conducted from July 22 to 24, 2024, using a quantitative descriptive approach. A total of 39 students were selected through total sampling. Data were collected via questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics with percentage formulas. The findings revealed that 87% of students used gadgets for extended periods, 82% used gadgets while lying down or prone, and 74% frequently watched television. In contrast, only 15% of students wore glasses as a corrective measure, and none used contact lenses. Most students relied on nutritious food consumption, such as fruits and vegetables (92%), to maintain eye health. The study concludes that gadget usage contributes to a decline in visual acuity, and this behavior warrants special attention from schools, parents, and healthcare professionals.

Abstract

The impact of the use of gadgets on the decline in sharp vision is most evident in the lack of focus in learning such as the distraction of students' attention on games, just checking social media, thus causing academic achievement to decline, and creativity is reduced. The purpose of the study was to determine the impact of gadget use on decreased sharp vision in SMPN 8 Padang students and to find out how to overcome excessive gadget use on decreased sharp vision in SMPN 8 Padang students. This research method is descriptive quantitative. The subjects in this study were students of SMPN 8 Padang conducted on June 28-July 2024. Data were collected through questionnaires and research instruments using a check list. Based on the research, the respondents at SMPN 8 Padang were 30 students. The results showed that as many as 17 students with a percentage (56.7%) had the impact of gadget use. And as many as 13 students with a percentage (43.3%) who do not have the impact of gadget use then as many as 16 students with a percentage (53.3%) know how to overcome the use of gadgets and as many as 14 students with a percentage (46.7%) who do not know how to overcome gadgets. The suggestion in this study is for students to improve the way they use excessive gadgets and use anti-radiation glasses, often do outdoor activities in order to avoid the impact of gadget use on sharp vision decline and also immediately check their eyes to the optics or ophthalmologist.
