Abstract

Kata kunci : petrified wood, fosil kayu ABSTRACT Petrified wood, better known as wood fossils, have many colors with extraordinary and amazing beauty from the colors that appear on it. Those colors are naturally produced from woods in the process of millions of years of stockpiling, the main substance of wood made from organic which has been turned into silicates, such as carnelian stone or commonly called agate, jasper and opal. The existence of these fossil stones is spread in areas with forests that are vast in miles including in Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, Madagascar, Indonesia and Brazil. Abundant wood fossils in so many places cause the creative industry to process those wood fossils and turned it into creative products which have economic values. In this creative industry, wood fossils are made into furniture or home decorations, made from large chunks of petrified woods and combined with other materials, such as metal and resin. Key words: petrified wood, wood fossils

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of the physical environment on work performance, regarding the composition of the colors used in the workspace. Thirty students of the Academy of Management and Secretary were recruited through announcements on their campus and are grouped into three, namely the harmonious, disharmonic, and the control group. An experimental task that must be done is to copy the article to a computer for 2x2 hours, interspersed with rest for 1 hour. Results of their work in the form of typing are calculated based on the number of pages, rows, and the number of words with Word Count on the Microsoft Word program. By using SPSS software version 17, the data were analyzed using the Analysis of Variance Model. The results showed that there were significant differences in performance influenced by the composition of colors in the workspace based on the number of pages as an indicator. But the other measurements based on the number of lines showed no significant difference. The measurement based on the number of words also showed no significant difference. With these results, we can conclude that the work performance resulting in a workspace using harmonious color composition on the floor, walls, and windows has no significant difference with the performance produced in the work space with disharmonic and neutral color composition. Argumentation and future research suggestions are discussed.

Abstract

The problem that is often faced for small and medium industries is the limited capital they have. They feel unable to hire designers to produce innovative products. They also often objected to allocating funds to conduct design experiments that required a lot of funds that they found to be highly speculative. Many small and medium industries that are comfortable with their conditions, accept orders whose designs come from direct buyers. They only become producers who often have low bargaining positions in the presence of buyers. The price of production is even determined by non-producer buyers. As a result, despite the large number of orders, the welfare of business actors and employees is difficult to improve. UMKM Development Activities This art is done to overcome these obstacles. Pembina who is a lecturer in Product Design Study Program ISI Yogyakarta has the competence to carry out the product innovation development activities. Through a more collaborative activities between lecturers and business actors, some design products produced from clam waste, some of which are made of prototype. With these activities, it is expected that business actors are motivated to continuously make design innovations on the products it produces. Collaboration, for lecturers also have a positive impact, namely the development of insight into the material and engineering workmanship in the field which in turn can be used as learning materials on campus. Keywords: waste, clame, product design

Abstract

Special Region of Yogyakarta has a lot of the furniture industry. Most of the industries are oriented to export products, while others tend to market them on the domestic market. The existence of the industry has a positive impact on the economy of the Special Region of Yogyakarta. The frequent furniture production that tends to increase over time, as a matter of fact, needs more raw materials. This rise of furniture production gives rise to a great volume of waste because it is not possible to reuse it to make furniture. The waste out of every 18-20 m3 wood are mainly in the form of 5-6 m3 of sawdust and 2-2.5 m3 wood chips. This paper describes the results of two workshops related to the utilization of wood waste. Workshop I was done by inviting participants from Small And Medium Enterpreneurship (SME) throughout Bantul by socializing design trends and international market to enable SME in Bantul can customize its design with the condition. Workshop II conducted as a follow-up to the workshop I, with output in accordance with the design trends of 2010.Keywords: meubel, home accessories, waste

Abstract

Coworking Space is a place where individuals or groups have different work backgrounds in one place. In Indonesia, coworking spaces are developing, with proof of that is the emergence of coworking spaces in big cities, such as Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, and Yogyakarta. With the increasing demand, coworking spaces are currently experiencing development. One element that is quite close and plays an important role in work activities is a table and chairs. Various activities and various work backgrounds that gather in a limited space and spend quite a long time, demand a coworking space to be a versatile and comfortable place. Thus, we need furniture that can achieve effectiveness and still think about the concept of open space or sharing space with other users. This means that this furniture has more features, such as being able to be used individually or together. So that the designed tables and chairs can accommodate user needs and adjust the space that is expected to create comfort for working in a coworking space.

Abstract

The new work concept, Flexible Working Space (FWS), is defined as the arrangement of team member work patterns that provide flexibility in work locations by maximizing information technology. This concept encourages the idea of meeting the needs of employees to do activities at home by designing smart and multifunctional work desk products. This workbench is made using reclaimed wood waste and polyester resin. In addition to increasing the selling value, combining wood waste and resin will be realized with the finishing technique of burning (shou sugi ban) on wood. The use of this finishing technique aims to present a classic and elegant aesthetic impression in accordance with user expectations. The design of this work table product uses the Design Thinking method, which consists of 5 stages, namely empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. This project produces a smart table, a multifunctional work desk equipped with sensor-based lights and music with reclaimed wood material that is finished using shou sugi tire and resin techniques for the upper-class urban user segment. Abstract

Early age or the golden age is a time of rapid development and growth of children. Education and stimulation through children's play activities are very influential for children's physical and mental development. Play is a need for early childhood that must be met for children's cognitive and motor development. But giving too many toys to children can inhibit children's creativity, make children bored quickly, and make children's concentration decrease. Children aged 5-6 years have the characteristics of more concrete thinking, realism, and high imagination. Based on this background, the author will design a constructive toy for children aged 5-6 years that can increase children's creativity with a more varied game system for children to play to challenge their creativity. The design method used is design thinking with five stages, namely empathise, define, ideate, protoype, and test. This design produces constructive toys for children aged 5-6 years with a flexible connection system adapted to the shape of the joints of motion, with this connection system toys can be arranged and moved so that children can maximally develop their imagination.

Abstract

his study is the result of an investigation of the influence of physical work environmenttoward stress at work place, particularly the color composition used. The research subjectswere thirty students of ASMI (Secretary and Management Academy) who were divided intothree groups, namely the Harmonious group, The Disharmonious group, and the Controlledgroup. The Work Stress Scale was used in the measurement process. The measurement wasdone three times: before the experiment, in the middle of the experiment (first 2 hours), and afterthe experiment (last 2 hours). The result was analysed using the Analysis of Variance (ANAVA)A-Mix-B model of SPS-2000 software application. The result of this study illustrated that therewas a significant difference on work stress level impacted by color composition applied at workspace (F = 4.149, p = 0.026). The graphic of work stress average of the Harmonious groupshowed that Harmonious color composition did not affect the work stress significantly (t =0.520, p = 0.306). The dominantly white color composition that played a role as the Controlledgroup was in fact able to reduce the work stress. The graphic showed that the Controlled grouptended to decrease significantly with these values t = 1.825, p = 0.035, and the initial work stressaverage was (0.000) higher than the final one (- 22.800). The Disharmonious group showed thatthe color composition increased the work stress level (t = 3.177, p = 0.001). It was concluded thatHarmonious color composition at work space did not influence the work stress level, dominantlywhite color composition could reduce the work stress level, and inharmonious (Disharmonious)color composition application had chances to elevate the work stress level.keywords: color composition, work space, work stresKeywords
