Abstract

Abstract  Background, Pulmonary Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Pulmonary TB disease is transmitted through airborne droplet infection with the source of infection is a person with a cough pulmonary TB disease. The duration of treatment for tuberculosis patients requires a long time, which is 6-8 months treatment time, patients do not understand the importance of TB disease treatment rules, the emergence of OAT resistance, lack of government supervision of treatment programs and community culture that considers TB as a hereditary disease or curse, these problems can be a reason for a person with tuberculosis not compliant in carrying out treatment and even stop treatment. Purpose, Community service aims to increase the knowledge and compliance of taking medication for Tuberculosis patients in the Sukawati Sub-District, Gianyar Regency. The method is carried out by providing counseling with booklet media and sending SMS regularly every day for one month. Results Characteristics of tuberculosis patients in the Sukawati sub-district of Gianyar were mostly aged 21-40 years (48.1%), female (63%), primary school education level (51.9%) and work as craftsmen (37%). Knowledge about tuberculosis with tuberculosis before counseling was largely lacking (85.2%), after being given counseling most knowledge about tuberculosis was good (77.8%). Adherence to taking medication for tuberculosis patients 96.3% adhere to medication. Keywords: Tuberculosis, Counseling, SMS

Abstract

The community water source in Nusa Penida Island is largely derived from rainwater that is collected in cubang used for drinking and clean water. This research aims were determine the levels of nitrate and nitrite in rainwater which is collected in cubang. The method used in this research is descriptive method. The examination was carried out using the spectrophotometric method. The results of examination of nitrate levels showed that 7 samples (23.3%) had nitrate levels above the maximum limit, while 23 samples (76.7%) had nitrate levels below the maximum limit, according to the regulation of Water Quality Standard I Pergub Bali No. 8 of 2007, which states that the maximum level of nitrate in water is 10 mg/L. The results of nitrite level examination showed 21 samples (70%) had nitrite levels above the maximum limit, while 9 samples (30%) had nitrite levels below the maximum limit, according to the regulation of Water Quality Standards I Pergub Bali No. 8 of 2007, which states that the maximum level of nitrite in water is 0.06 mg/L. The presence of nitrate and nitrite in rainwater are influenced by the nitrogen cycle that occurs in nature. The high levels of nitrate and nitrite in rainwater collected in cubang are supported by environmental conditions in the hole so that it makes it easier to contaminate.Keywords: rainwater, cubang, nitrate levels, nitrite levels

Abstract

AbstractBackground: Commercial sex workers (CSWs) profession is very vulnerable to various types of sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Providing information of STIs prevention for CSWs is very important so they can recognize the fatal consequences of these STIs. The most practical form or media is booklet because it is easy to understand, and easy to carry anywhere so that they can be aware of the high risk of danger.Objective: The objective of this research is to know the provision of booklet media improvingthe knowledge, attitude, and behavior of CSWs in preventing STIs in the area of South Kuta Health Center Badung regency.Methods:Pre Experiment Research Design with "one group pretest and posttest design" approach with a cross-sectional design. The population in this research is all the CSWs in Nusa Dua Bali. Sampling is accidental sampling. The number of samples taken 25% of the population so that the amounts of samples is 100 people.Results: Respondent average age in the range of 18-27 years (42%), Education Level of elementary school (48%), length of work (47%) marital status that is married/divorce (69%). From Kolmogorov Smirnov test result on 6 variables such as pre and posttest knowledge, pre and posttest attitude and pre and posttest behavior variable, the pretest attitude variable has the normal distribution with signification 0,218 while the other variable is the not normal distribution with signification less than 0.000. Wilcoxon test results obtained significance for the variable knowledge, attitude and behavior of 0,000 smaller than 0.05 indicates there is a difference of average score of knowledge, attitude and behavior before and after given booklet media.Conclusion: Knowledge and understanding of a person will affect the attitude, then affect the intention of someone's to perform the action or behave. It can be interpreted that person’s education level affects attitude and behavior in life. Booklet  improving the knowledge, attitudes, and behavior of CSWs in preventing STIs in Nusa Dua Bali

Abstract

AbstractBackground Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) was a condition of glucose intolerance that occur during pregnancy detected by examining blood glucose levels. Objective This study aims to measure fasting blood glucose levels at the second and third trimesters pregnant women in  Puskesmas I Denpasar Selatan-based on certain characteristics. Methods The type of this study is descriptive and using simple random sampling technique. Samples in this study amounted to 33 women. Blood glucose levels measured by venous blood samples with hexokinase method. Result The study results obtained 28 women (84,85%) in the not risk of GDM category and five women (15,15%) in the risk of GDM category. High blood glucose levels obtained four women (12,12%) in the category 25 years and one women (3,03%) in the category 25, on the characteristics of the gestational age obtain two women (6,06%) in the second trimester and three women (9,09%) in the third trimester, on the characteristics of DM in the family obtained one women (3,03%) with a history of DM.Conclusion  The conclusion of this research obtained fasting blood glucose level in trimester II and III pregnant women at Puskesmas I Denpasar Selatan ranged between 66 - 120 mg/dL. Keywords: blood glucose, pregnant women, gestational diabetes

Abstract

BackgroundSnakefruit more technically known as ‘Salak’ (Salacca sp) is native fruit of Indonesia regarded as exotic fruit that can consumed not only its flesh fruit but also its skin in the form of extract as it has an efficacy. Extract of snakefruit rind can be proceed into a healthy beverages that contains phenolic compounds which known as natural antioxidants. ObjectiveThis study aimed to describe the content of nutrients such as carbohydrates, proteins, and antioxidants in the extract of snakefruit rind products. This data will be useful as information material to local food industryas well as further research on the processed products for health. Methods This research is a descriptive study that examines the content of carbohydrates, protein, and antioxidants in the extract of snakefruit rind products. Samples were rind of snakefruit with various concentration masses, in water ratio 1%, 5%, 10%, and non compositions. ResultCarbohydrate, protein, antioxidant capacity and IC50 respectively for each composition, are (1) the composition of the 1%: -0.04%; 0.21%; 20.70 ppm, 426.58 ppm; (2) the composition of 5%: 0.82%; 0.20%; 73.40 ppm; 151.41 ppm; (3) the composition of 10%: 0.93%; 0.20%; 110.29 ppm; 87.11 ppm; (4) non composition: 28.14%; 44.90%; 215.10 ppm; 56.10 ppm, and non composition: 1.00%; 0.00%; 25.73 ppm; 92.18 ppm. The most potential nutrient compound in extract of snakefruit rind is the antioxidant, which produced as beverages like tea product. The composition of 10% is the most active category of antioxidant activity, whereas 5% in medium category, and composition of 1% in weak category. Carbohydrates and proteins compound are gradually lower in each composition, caused by boiling process due to the process of water dilution. ConclusionsThis study revealed that extract of snakefruit rind can produced as healthy beverages (such as tea), as it is a potential wastes treatment for local food products. The extract of snakefruit rind consist of nutrition just like proteins, carbohydrates which are great for health and also contains lots of a powerful antioxidant and works well to prevent cardiovascular disease, strokes, and even cancer, prevent allergies, increase fertility, and boost immunity. Abstract

Palm tuak is one of the traditional drink that is usually consumed by majority people in Bali. Tuak palm is produced from fermented palm juice. The fermentation process makes sucrose contained in palm juice will turn into alcohol and continues to acetic acid. The aim of this research is to know the characteristic objective and subjective palm tuak (Arenga pinnata) based on the storage time. The method in this research was quasi experiment design. The samples of palm tuak were stored at room temperature (24-30°C) on the first day to fifth day. This research was conducted by measuring characteristics objective and subjective at palm tuak, determination of ethanol's concentration by gas chromatography (GC), determination of the pH by pH stick, determination of total acid by titration method, and organoleptic test by acceptance test method. The results showed that the ethanol content obtained during time storage of first to fifth day are 8,1512%, 8,234%, 9,117%, 10,6214%, dan 11,615% respectively. The pH was determined is 4. While total acid obtained during time storage of first to fifth day are 0,321%, 0,421%, 0,433%, 0,472%, dan 0,480%. The result of organoleptic test palm tuak showed that palm tuak that were stored on the first day are the most preferred among the others in terms of taste, color, and aroma.

Abstract

AbstractBackground Damage to oil during the frying process caused by the oxidation process, it will affect the quality and nutritional value of the food that fried, and it can cause a variety of diseases such as the deposition of fat in the blood vessels and the possibility of carcinogenic compounds that can cause cancer. The rate of oxidation of the oil can be inhibited by the addition of antioxidants. Antioxidants retard oxidation or free radicals from oxidized fats. As a natural antioxidant, mangosteen pericarp contains xanthones that are very effective in preventing the occurrence of free radicals. The problem in this study is whether there is a difference numbers peroxide in used cooking oils after addition of the mangosteen pericarp powdered? Objective The purpose of research is to know the difference peroxide used cooking oil after the addition of the mangosteen pericarp powdered.Methods This type of research is True Exsperiment Design by Design Post Test Only with Control Design. The treatments were the addition of the mangosteen pericarp powdered in some concentration : 0.10%, 0.20%, 0.30%, 0.40% and 0.50%, and the soaking time mangosteen pericarp powder on used cooking oil during one day, two days and three days. The analysis was conducted using peroxide iodometri. Data analysis was conducted by using One Way Anova. followed by Least Significant Different (LSD).Result Data analysis showed a significant difference peroxide in used cooking oils after addition of mangosteen pericarp powder at various concentrations. Conclusions The most effective concentration is 0.30%, and the soaking time is one  day. Keywords: Numbers peroxide, mangosteen pericarp
