<![CDATA[Abstract The year 2020 is a worrying for the entire world community. This is due to the emergence of the Corona virus outbreak, which started in the Chinese city of Wuhan, and spread throughout the world. The circulation of information about the covid virus causes high anxiety and worries. In the current crisis conditions, the dissemination of information that is not necessarily true causes the public to be in an uncertain situation, even though the truth and accuracy of the information is a reference for the community to act. The purpose of this study was to analyze the level of public knowledge and the perception of the people of Central Java about the Covid19 virus. The most accessible source of information is social media, but the habit of people who rarely check and re-check the truth of information causes hoax information to continue to grow. On the other hand, it turns out that there are still many who lack information about Covid-19 so that they do not realize how to prevent the spread of this virus. Various cases that occurred in Central Java such as refusal to be tested by members of the Council, dishonesty of residents to medical personnel, refusal of burial of corpses and ostracism of people under supervision are examples of the level of knowledge and differences in perceptions about corona virus. This type of research is an analytic survey with a descriptive approach for 348 respondents from the people of Central Java who are willing to fill out a questionnaire via google form. This study shows that 290 (83,3%) respondents have adequate knowledge about Covid-19, and as many as 289 (83%) have a negative perception of this virus by stating that this virus is a terrible epidemic. Socialization about health protocols and information about this pandemic needs to be carried out continuously, because even though they have negative perceptions, there are many people in Central Java who do not obey the health protocols. Key word: level of knowledge, perceptions, corona virus, covid-19 Abstrak Tahun 2020 merupakan tahun yang mengkhawatirkan bagi seluruh masayarakat dunia. Hal ini disebabkan karena munculnya wabah virus Corona, yang bermula dari Kota Wuhan China, dan menyebar ke seluruh dunia. Beredarnya informasi tentang virus covid ini menyebabkan keresahan dan kecemasan yang tinggi. Dalam kondisi krisis sekarang ini, penyebaran informasi yang belum tentu benar menyebabkan masyarakat berada dalam situasi yang tidak menentu, padahal kebenaran dan keakuratan informasi menjadi acuan bagi masyarakat dalam bertindak. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis tingkat pengetahuan masyarakat dan persepsi masyarakat Jawa Tengah tentang virus Covid19. Sumber informasi yang paling mudah diakses adalah media sosial namun kebiasaaan masyarakat yang jarang melakukan cek dan ricek terhadap kebenaran informasi menyebabkan informasi hoaks terus berkembang. Di sisi lain, ternyata masih banyak yang justru kekurangan informasi seputar Covid-19 sehingga mereka belum menyadari cara untuk mencegah penyebaran virus ini. Berbagai kasus yang terjadi di Jawa Tengah seperti penolakan dilakukan tes oleh anggota Dewan, ketidakjujuran warga pada tenaga medis, penolakan pemakaman jenazah dan pengucilan pada orang dalam pengawasan menjadi contoh tingkat pengetahuan dan perbedaan persepsi tentang virus corona ini. Tipe penelitian ini adalah survey analitik dengan pendekatan deksriptif untuk 348 responden masyarakat Jawa Tengah yang bersedia mengisi kuesioner melalui google form. Penelitian ini menunjukkan sebanyak 290 (83,3%) responden memiliki pengetahuan yang memadai tentang Covid-19, dan sebanyak 289 (83%) memiliki persepsi yang negatif tentang virus ini dengan menyatakan bahwa virus ini adalah wabah yang mengerikan. Sosialisasi tentang protokol kesehatan dan informasi tentang pandemi ini perlu untuk dilakukan terus menerus, karena walaupun memiliki persepsi yang negatif tetapi masih banyak masyarakat di Jawa Tengah yang tidak taat pada protokol kesehatan.
