Abstract

Micro-loans intended to improve household economies are a fascinating subject for research because a comparative analysis of before and after taking micro-loans would result in a bias selection. Households have different prior conditions from one another, so the difference found during the study is not entirely due to receiving micro-loans. There is a risk of moral hazard risk due to asymmetric information. This research adopts the double difference (DD) fixed effects method to estimate the extent of micro-loans’ impact. Results indicate that micro-loans are significantly influencing the household economies. The impact size was relatively small that it was not apparent during regression. As an implication, micro-loans intended for productive purposes can help improve household economic conditions. Effective and sustainable monitoring and counsel can minimize the risk of moral hazard.DOI: 10.15408/sjie.v7i1.5954

Abstract

Abstract

Micro-loans are loans aimed at helping poor or low-income communities to increase their income through increasing productivity so as to reduce poverty. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship of micro-loans to the increase in household income per capita in Indonesia and to determine the impact of micro-loans that actually result in an increase in household income per capita in Indonesia. The method used is Double Difference (DD) Fixed Effects with data from the Indonesia Family Life Survey (IFLS) in 2000 and 2007. The estimation results show that it is proven that the impact of micro loans on income changes is not visible and even looks negative 0.446. There was an increase in total income in 2007 compared to 2000 with a coefficient value of 0.279 using the nominal value. However, in real terms, the coefficient value is not significant, namely negative 0.063.

Abstract

This research investigates the influence of competency, information technology usage, communication, and internal control system on employee performance within the Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) of Papua Province. Using a quantitative approach, the study targets a population of 78 employees from BPS Papua Province. All employees were included in the study due to the population size being less than 100. Data collection involved primary data through Likert scale questionnaires. Statistical analyses included descriptive statistics, validity and reliability tests, classical assumption tests, and hypothesis testing through partial (t-test), simultaneous, and determination coefficient tests. The results indicate that competency, communication, and internal control system significantly affect employee performance, while information technology usage does not. Collectively, these variables demonstrate a significant impact on employee performance. Recommendations include continuous competency improvement through training, enhancing information technology infrastructure, fostering effective communication, and evaluating communication quality. Implementing these recommendations is expected to significantly enhance employee performance at BPS Papua Province, thereby contributing to organizational goals.
