Abstract

Climate change presents a significant impact on peatland farmer where during the last 5 years has been disrupting the continuity of rice farming in Pinang Mas village. Floods, droughts, and pest attacks increase on their farm has led to a decline in rice production and farmers' income. This study aims to: 1) Measure the level of socio-economic vulnerability and 2) Identifying farmer adaptation strategies. This survey was conducted in Pinang Mas village, Sungai Pinang, Ogan Ilir, South Sumatra. The data was taken in August to October 2015. As many as 65 samples out of 652 households were taken by simple random sampling method. The results of this study indicate that the level of socio-economic vulnerability of farmers by measuring the vulnerability of natural resources, human resources, financial resources, social resources, and physical resources, currently on vulnerable criteria (scored 79.32). Some of the strategies that farmers have done are ecological adaptation strategy by shifting the time of planting, changing the type of seed, rice seed redeem with neighbors or other villagers who had decent planted; economic strategy by selling livestock, switch livelihoods, and reduce consumption, and social adaptation strategies carried out by rely on neighbors and government assistance.

Abstract

Purpose – This community service program aims to enhance the capacity of MSME actors in Sungai Rebo Village in utilizing digital marketing through e-commerce platforms to address limited market access, low digital literacy, and inadequate skills in creating promotional content. The program is designed to expand marketing reach, increase the added value of local products, and strengthen the village’s economic independence. Design/methodology/approach – The activities were implemented through five stages: socialization, training on digital marketing and content creation, technology implementation through hands-on practice in creating e-commerce accounts, continuous mentoring, and evaluation of competency improvement using pretest and posttest assessments. Findings – The results indicate a significant increase in participants’ knowledge and skills in managing online stores, uploading products, and utilizing digital promotion features. The paired sample t-test confirmed a meaningful difference between pretest and posttest scores, demonstrating the effectiveness of the training. Participants successfully created Shopee store accounts and began developing their digital product showcases. Originality/value –This program provides a tangible contribution to supporting digital transformation among village-based MSMEs through practical approaches and direct mentoring. Its novelty lies in integrating e-commerce training with simple promotional content creation techniques that are accessible to rural MSMEs. The program aligns with several SDGs, including poverty reduction, economic growth, and innovation.

Abstract

Women fulfill not only the role of homemakers but also contribute significantly to the family economy, with many opting to work in Agro-Industrial Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). This study aims to achieve the following objectives: (1) To assess the level of motivation among women as MSMEs enterpreneurs in Agro-Industry in the 29 Ilir Urban Village Palembang City. (2) To analyze the income of women working in Agro-Industrial MSMEs in the 29 Ilir Urban Village and their contribution to household income. (3) To analyze the relationship between work motivation and income for women in this sector. Conducted in July 2024, this research was situated in the 29 Ilir Urban Village Palembang City, utilizing a purposive sampling method for site selection. The study employed a survey methodology, with a Simple Random Sampling technique involving 30 women working in Agroindustrial MSMEs. Data collection comprised both primary and secondary data, with data analysis executed through Likert scale analysis and Spearman Rank correlation analysis. Findings reveal that the Existence, Relatedness, Growth (ERG) motivation of women in Agro-Industrial SMEs is rated high, with an average score of 3.02, indicating that their motivational needs are being met. The average monthly income for these women is Rp2,280,834, which remains below the Palembang Minimum Wage (UMK), with their contribution to family income at 60%, reflecting a moderate level of contribution. Furthermore, there exists a positive and significant relationship between work motivation and income among women employed in AgroIndustrial MSMEs in the 29 Ilir Urban Village Palembang City.
