Abstract

Belt conveyor is one of famous material handling equipment on industry around the world. It can be used to transport cement, coal and others. Capacity of belt conveyor depend on wide of belt, power motor, distance of transport area, material that will be transport and velocity of belt. As a case study, PT PUSRI Palembang has belt conveyor 5857-V series 600 ton per hour capacity. The aim of this research is to find the real capacity and velocity of this belt conveyor on field and analize what factor influence if some differences come up. Based on calculation, from 37 KW power motor, real capacity of this belt conveyor is 398,33 ton per hour and its speed is 0,93 m/s. Meanwhile, to reach maximum capacity 600 ton per hour, belt conveyor needs speed 1,4 m/s by using 50 KW power motor.Keywords: Belt Conveyor, Capasity, Velocity.

Abstract

Programmable Logic Control is a automatic control device which has memory for storing input program to control devices or processes by using input module and outpu in digital or analogue. This research conduct using of PLC to control temperature in prototype room, by using Zelio logic  smart relay, and module sensor LM35. Prototype room is made from glass, with dimension 60mm x 20mm x 20mm and has roof like a house, and 4 fans are put on the long side of the room. From this experiment, based on temperature which set on FBD program, room temparature can be controlled in 320C succesfully.

Abstract

A conveyor idler belt is to serve as buffer in a transportation system of coal from the land to a ship the carrier of coal. The idler was loaded by 700 tons per hour. From the simulation, the bearing on the slant has a maximum value of von mises stress is 258.05 MPa by the crushed bituminous coals load, 340.09 MPa by the crushed anthracite coal, 528.26 MPa by crushed bituminous coals impact loads, 692.28 MPa by the crushed anthracite coal impact loads. The bearing age for crushed bituminous coals transportation is 278.81 days for 21 hours per day of service hour and 117.44 million round revolution; 139.6 days for the crushed anthracite coal and 58.81 million round revolution; however the pads located on the bottom right of transfer chute has a very short life of 22.62 days and 9.53 million round revolution for the crushed anthracite coal transportation and 47.24 days for crushed bituminous coal transportation and 19.9 million round revolution. The crack type of bearing was macro crack, pear skin, discoloratioan, wear, smearing, and corrosion. Periodic maintenance was necessary keeping the bearing longer in service life.
