Abstract

An enzymatic method for removal of phenols from industrial wastewater was investigated. Peroxidase from horseradish was demonstrated to remove phenol and aromatic amines from aqueous solutions and to decolorize from phenolic industrial ejjluents. Phenol and phenol derivatives contained in wastewater can be removed by using peroxidase and coagulant.

Abstract

Enzym are complex, colloidal organic catalysts produced by living cells, but unabl eto produce themselves. They occur in animal and plant life, and around 20,000 to 30,000 enzyme are beli ved to exist in the human body. In cosmetic application enzyme is also needed, for instance enzyme for skin care which can be produce from vegetables and fruits such as trypsine, lipase, diastase, bromelin, papain, and enzyme for skin treatment which can be used urease, pepsin, catalase, trypsine. Besides, urease and catalase are useful also for dentifrices and hair care.

Abstract

Phenols are effectively removed by treatment with peroxidase and a cationic polymer coagulant. The coagulant precipitated enzymatic products of phenol, and reduced the in activation of peroxidase caused by reaction of products from phenol with the enzyme.

Abstract

Waste water of tapioca industry come from cassava washing, extraction and sedimentation of starch The waste water normally has low pH, high COD, suspended solid and CN content The research has been done by using anaerob and aerob treatment and resulting that COD is decreasing up Lo 90%, pH = 7, suspended solid and CN content below than waste water quality standard, so the effluent can be discharge Lo the public rivers.
