Abstract

 Abstract Research has been done on hand gel formulation of the ethanol extract of the leaves of [Tithonia diversifolia (Hemsley) A. Gray]. This research also obtained data of its antibacterial activity with variation of extract that contained in gel (4%, 5%, and 6%). Evaluation that conducted for gel were organoleptic, pH, stability, homogeneity, spread power, and time of gel absorption on skin. Antibacterial activity test against Staphylococcus aureus also conducted for this formulation by well diffusion method. The results of the evaluation conducted on the hand gel ethanol extract of the leaves of [Tithonia diversifolia (Hemsley) A. Gray] showed that this formulation has meet all of the gel’s characterization requirements. Gel that has antibacterial activity is Formula 1, Formula 2 and Formula 3. Formula 3 showed the highest antibacterial activity as indicated by its inhibition zone (35.19 mm). Based on the results of one-way ANOVA statistical analysis there is a significant difference in the inhibition zone that produced by all formulation of hand sanitizer gels of Tithonia diversifolia (Hemsley) A. Gray extract (P <0.05).Key word : Tithonia diversifolia (Hemsley) A. Gray, hand sanitizer gel, antibacterial activity Intisari Telah dilakukan penelitian formulasi gel pembersih tangan ekstrak etanol daun kembang bulan [Tithonia diversifolia (Hemsley) A. Gray] dan uji aktivitas antibakterinya dengan kandungan ekstrak etanol daun kembang bulan [Tithonia diversifolia (Hemsley) A. Gray] 4%, 5%, dan 6%. Evaluasi gel meliputi pemeriksaan organoleptis, pH, uji stabilitas, uji homogenitas, uji daya menyebar, uji waktu mongering dan uji daya antibakteri terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dengan metode difusi sumuran. Hasil evaluasi yang telah dilakukan terhadap gel pembersih tangan ekstrak etanol daun kembang bulan [Tithonia diversifolia (Hemsley) A. Gray]  menunjukkan bahwa sediaan tersebut telah memenuhi persyaratan gel. Formula yang mempunyai aktivitas antibakteri adalah Formula 1, Formula 2 dan Formula 3. Formula 3 menunjukkan aktivitas antibakteri tertinggi yang ditunjukkan dengan dihasilkannya diameter daya hambat sebesar 35,19 mm. Berdasarkan hasil analisa statistik ANOVA satu arah terdapat perbedaan yang bermakna terhadap besar diameter daya hambat yang dihasilkan oleh beberapa formula gel pembersih tangan ekstrak etanol Tithonia diversifolia (Hemsley) A. Abstract

The aim of this research was to formulate of mucoadhesive ketoprofen granules using chitosan polymer. Ketoprofen granules were prepared by wet granulation method with several concentrations of chitosan polymer 0%, 10%, 20%, and 30% (w/v). Granules were evaluated physically and chemically. In vitro dissolution test was carried out for 6 hours using a basket method in buffer phosphate medium pH 7.4. General evaluation of granules showed the yield was relatively good. In vitro mucoadhesive test exhibited that mucoadhesive ketoprofen granules using chitosan polymer could provide mucoadhesive properties to stomach and intestinal of rabbits. The statistics tests for dissolution efficiency with one ways ANOVA (SPSS 17) showed a significant different among F0, F1, F2 and F3 (P0.05). All the formulas followed Langenbucher kinetic release model.
