<![CDATA[Abstrak Batam sebagai salah satu daerah industri yang cukup strategis membuat keberadaan industri berkembang cukup pesat, dengan letak geografis yang berbatasan dengan Singapura dan Malaysia dan terletak di selat malaka yang merupakan jalur pelayaran sibuk di dunia, menjadikan Batam menjadi jalur perdagangan barang-barang elektronik khususnya smartphone yang akan di distribusikan ke kota lain di Indonesia. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh smartphone dan internet service provider terhadap komunikasi interpersonal masyarakat Kota Batam. Penggunaan smartphone tidak terlepas dari subscriber identifying module (SIM) card yang digunakan sebagai media untuk mengkoneksikan perangkat smartphone dengan internet. Penggunaan SIM card tersebut akan melibatkan internet service provider (penyedia layanan internet) agar smartphone dapat digunakan sebagai media komunikasi. Dalam penelitian ini, teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah kuesioner dan yang menjadi responden adalah masyarakat Kota Batam yang menggunakan smartphone dengan jumlah 400 responden. Hasil penelitian ini adalah adanya pengaruh smartphone dan internet service provider terhadap komunikasi interpersonal masyarakat Kota Batam. Hanya 14,6% variabel dependen Komunikasi Interpersonal (Y), dapat dijelaskan oleh variabel-variabel independen yaitu Smartphone dan Komunikasi Interpersonal sisanya dari variabel lain. In this study, data collection techniques used are questionnaires and respondents are the people of Batam using smartphones with the number of 400 respondents. The result of this research is the influence of smartphones and internet service providers to the public interpersonal communication Batam. Only 14.6% of Interpersonal Communication dependent variable (Y), can be explained by the independent variables, namely smartphones and Interpersonal Communication rest of other variables.
