Abstract

Traditional kitchen aquipment has been around since prehistoric humans began to know farming. Along whit the development of science and technology, the use of traditional kitchen aquipment is increasingly, especially in the tribes in Sarmi Regency. Therefore it is necessary to have an effort to preserve the traditional kithen equipment as one of the nation’s wealth heritage. This paper will discuss some traditional equipment in the two tribes in Sarmi Regency, namely the Manirem and Armati tribes, as well as the functions and cultural values contained in traditional kitchen equipment. This research is a descriptive study through a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques carried out through observation in the community (observation), interviews with several informants, documentation and literature studies. By using this method one can find out the kitchen utensils in the two tribes in Sarmi Regency, as well as find out the function and cultural values contained in traditional kitchen utensils in the two tribes in Sarmi district

Abstract

One of the cultural heritage of the ethnic groups in Papua is traditional jewelry. This traditional jewelry is quite unique to use, with the uniqueness of the jewelry made of beads, seeds, animal fangs, noken, and traditional clothes which are also made of bark with Papuan motifs. Therefore, this study aims to highlight cultural artifacts in the form of traditional jewelry on ethnic groups in Papua, especially in the North Coast of Sarim Regency and the Central Mountains of Yahukimo Regency, Papua. This research uses an ethnoarcheological approach which is carried out in two stages, namely data collection and data processing. Data collection is done in several ways, namely: surveys, interviews and conducting literature studies. The results of the research show that there are differences in the use of traditional jewelry between the Sarmi tribe in the northern coastal region and the Momuna tribe in Yahukimo Regency, the Central Mountains of Papua. Because this really depends on the values contained in the jewelry and its function in the culture of each tribe.

Abstract

Papua has a diverse traditions including burial system. The purpose of this paper to know the diversity of burial system in Papua and values contained therein. Ethnoarchaeology approach used in this paper. The results of the research contained burials systems in Supiori, Sorong, Merauke, Yalimo and Pegunungan Bintang. The values contained in burial systems in Papua namely: religious values, honesty, tolerance, discipline, hard work, independent, democratic, curios;ty, the spirit of nationalism, patriotism, respect for the achievements, friends I communicative, peace-loving, caring social, and environmental care. AbstrakPapua memiliki tradisi yang beragam termasuk sistem penguburan. Tujuan penulisan ini untuk mengetahui keragaman sistem penguburan di Papua dan nilai-nilai yang terkandung di dalamnya. Pendekatan etnoarkeologi digunakan dalam penulisan ini. Hasil penelitian terdapat sistem penguburan di Supiori, Sarong, Merauke, Yalimo dan Pegunungan Bintang. Nilai-nilai yang terdapat pada sistem penguburan di Papua yaitu: nilai religius, jujur, toleransi, disiplin, ke~a keras, mandiri, demokratis, rasa ingin tahu, semangat kebangsaan, cinta tanah air, menghargai prestasi, bersahabatlkomunikatif, cinta damai, peduli sosial, dan peduli lingkungan.

Abstract

Tribes in Papua consider dogs to be animals that have important values for their lives. This paper aims to determine the function of dogs for the lives of tribes in Papua and to determine the value of these dogs for the lives of tribes in Papua. The method used in this study is an ethno-archaeological approach. The function of dogs in the lives of several tribes in Papua is as friends for hunting and also as their dema and totem. The Momuna and Korowai tribes use dog tooth fangs as payment for dowry, custom fines, and also used as body jewelry in the form of necklaces and bracelets. The sacred value of a dog for the lives of these tribes is the belief that a dog can expel subtle creatures (demons, dead spirits, evil magic, suanggi) by barking and also as dema / totems that can provide abundant hunting blessings. ABSTRAK Suku-suku di Papua menganggap anjing merupakan binatang yang mempunyai nilai penting bagi kehidupan mereka. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui fungsi anjing bagi kehidupan suku-suku yang berada di Papua serta untuk mengetahui nilai anjing tersebut bagi kehidupan suku-suku di Papua. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu pendekatan etnoarkeologi. Fungsi anjing dalam kehidupan beberapa suku-suku yang berada di Papua adalah sebagai sahabat untuk berburu dan juga sebagai dema dan totem mereka. Suku Momuna dan Suku Korowai menggunakan taring gigi anjing sebagai pembayaran mas kawin, denda adat, dan juga dijadikan perhiasan tubuh berupa kalung dan gelang. Nilai sakral seekor anjing bagi kehidupan suku-suku ini adalah kepercayaan bahwa seekor anjing dapat mengusir makluk halus (setan, roh-roh orang mati, sihir jahat, suanggi) dengan cara menggonggong dan juga sebagai dema/totem yang dapat memberikan berkat berburuan yang melimpah.

Abstract

There are quite a few megalithic interesting topics to studies. Megalithic cultural remains can be studied from all aspects. On this occasion the out her will examine the remain of the megalitithic culture of the mawe stone in the Roon district of Wondama Bay Regency, West Papua Province. This study uses an ethno-archaeological approach and a motodegy approach. The ethno-arhnographic data as analogy to obtain the community cultural model under study. In the end it can projeocted the extinect past culture can help solve archeological problems. While using the mythological approach is expected to be able to give a clear picture of how mythological stories can be received and read by the next generation. This research has been conducted in two stages, namely data collection and data processing. Data collection is done in save ral ways, namely survey, interview and conduct literature studies. The final stages is data processing aftet all the data collected is them described, analyteed, and interpreted. From the megalithic remains and mythology, valves that need to be conveyed to be the community and future generations can taken. the existence of this mythologis has an important rule, one of which is social and culture values. These values provide apicture and experience for the community. Thus the presence of megalithig culture with various valuable information is a starting point for archeological studies as a chan of megalithic culture in the archipelago. ABSTRAK Tinggalan megalitik di Papua cukup banyak merupakan topik yang menarik untuk dikajih. Tinggalan budaya megalit tersebut dapat dikajih dari segala aspek. Pada kesempatan ini penulis akan mengkaji tinggalan budaya mengalit dari aspek mitologi dan budaya di Papua. Yaitu tinggalan megalitik batu mawe yang berada di Kampung Manerbo, Distrik Roon, Kabupaten Teluk Wondama, Provinsi Papua Barat. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode pendekatan etnoarkeologi dan pendekatan mitologi. Pendekatan etnoarkeologi memanfaatkan data etnografi sebagai analogi untuk memperoleh model kebudayaan masyarakat yang diteliti. Pada akhirnya dapat di proyeksikan kebudayaan masa lampau yang telah punah sehingga dapat membantu memecahkan masalah-masalah arkeologi. Sedangkan dengan menggunakan pendekatan mitologi diharapkan mampu memberikan gambaran secara jelas bagaimana kisah mitologi dapat diterima dan dibaca oleh generasi penerus. Penelitian ini pulah dilakukan dengan dua tahap yaitu pengumpulan data dan pengolahan data. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan beberapa cara yaitu : survei, wawancara dan melakukan studi pustaka. Tahap akhir adalah pengolahan data, setelah semua data terkempul kemudian dideskripsikan, dianalisis dan diinterpretasikan. Dari tinggalan megalitik dan mitologinya dapat diambil nilai-nilai yang perlu di sampaikan kepada masyarakat dan generasi penerus Keberadaan mitologi ini memiliki peran yang penting, salah satunya terkandung nilai, sosial, dan budaya. Nilai-nilai inilah yang memberikan gambaran dan pengalaman tersendiri pada masyarakat. Dengan demikian hadirnya budaya megalit dengan berbagai informasi yang sangat berharga ini sebagai titik tolak kajian arkeologi sebagai mata rantai budaya megalitik di Nusantara.

Abstract

This paper examines the tradisional houses karapauw kame and mitoro pole of the Kamoro in Mimika District. The problems raised in the paper is how the form, function, and cultural velues of tradisional homes karapauw kame and mitoro pole. The metohod used is qualitative method, with inductive reasoning as a minsed in solving problems that have been done before. The results of research houses karapauw kame and mitoro poles are expected to and reference tribal house in Papua in particular and in Indonesia generally. ABSTRAK Tulisan ini mengkaji rumah tradisional Karapauw kame dan tiang mitoro pada suku Kamoro di kabupaten Mimika. Adapun permasalahan yang diangkat dalam tulisan ini adalah bagaimana bentuk, fungsi dan nilai budaya rumah tradisional karapauw kame dan tiang mitoro. Metode yang di gunakan adalah metode kualitatif, dengan penalaran induktif sebagai pola pikir dalam memecahkan rumusan masalah yang telah diajukan sebelumnya. Diharapkan budaya masa lampau ini dapat direkontruksi lewat data etnografi dari tradisi masyarakat yang masih berlangsung (pendekatan etnoarkeologi). Hasil penelitian rumah tradisional Karapauw kame dan tiang mitoro di harapkan pulah dapat menambah referensi rumah suku yang ada di Papua khususnya dan di Indonesia umumnya.

Abstract

Menurut para peneliti-peneliti terdahulu dalam tulisan-tulisan mereka bahwa budaya tradisional tato di Papua hanya menyentuh pada budaya pesisir saja, yang merupakan budaya Austronesia. Berdasarkan hal tersebut tidak terbukti, sebab budaya tato ini juga dikenal oleh suku Momuna yang berada di daerah Pegunungan Tengah Papua. Dalam mengunggkapkan budaya tato pada suku Momuna menggunakan metode pendekatan etnoarkeologi yang dilakukan dengan dua tahap yaitu pengumpulan data dan pengolahan data. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan beberapa cara yaitu: survey, wawancara dan melakukan studi pustaka. Hasil dari penelitian ini dapat mengetahui cara pembuatan tato, alat yang digunakan, dan mengetahui fungsi dan makna tato dalam kehidupan suku Mumuna.

Abstract

Megalithic dwellings in Papua related to folktale are very much traced from each region. These folktale are not only told by the community but there is historical evidence in the form of natural stone buildings. Which according to archaeology is called megalithic buildings. The stone is believed to be a deformed turtle. This research was conducted in Kampung Bagaiserwar Sarmi Kota district, Sarmi Regency, Papua Province. In this paper the author uses the method of ethnoarkeological approach. This research is also conducted in two stages, namely data collection and data processing. Data collection is done in several ways, namely: surveys, interviews and conducting library studies. The final stage is data processing, after all the collected data is then described, analyzed and interpreted. By using this method, you can also find out the megalithic remains of the suspect stone /turtle and folktale of the Sobey tribe in Sarmi Regency and can know what cultural values are contained in the megalithic dwellings and folktale of teteruga/ turtles / in the Sobey tribe in Sarmi Regency.
