Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic which began to plague Indonesia in March 2020 had a major impact on academic activities in higher education, including at IAIN Palangka Raya. This situation requires the lecturers to find ways to adapt to new conditions and reduce the risk of virus transmission. This study is a descriptive-qualitative research that aims to uncover the learning process of Mahārah Istimā’ using WhatsApp Group media seen from the learning objectives, materials, strategies, and evaluation. The subject of this research is lecturers of Arabic Education (PBA) at IAIN Palangka Raya who teach the Mahārah Istimā’ course. Data of the research was collected from observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that the learning process of Mahārah Istimā’ during the Covid-19 pandemic could run optimally in terms of the learning objectives, materials, strategies, and evaluation. The objectives of Mahārah Istimā’ learning are to understand, develop, interact, observe, conclude, and classify information. The learning materials used can be in the form of discourses, conversations, songs, guessing games, or chain messages using audio that is played through the voice note feature on the WhatsApp application. The strategies used include: (1) listen and then say, (2) listen and then answer, (3) listen and then identify, and (4) listen and then refine. The evaluations meant here involve daily evaluations for each assignment and summative evaluations, i.e. the midterm exam and the final exam.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Digital Storytellingstrategy in improving students’ speaking skills. This study uses a quantitativeresearch method of experimental type or true experimental design using a pretestposttestcontrol group design. Participants in the study were class VIII participantsat an Integrated Islamic Junior High School (SMP IT) in Palangka Raya City. . Fromthis study found the following results: 1. participants in the control class showed anincrease in speaking ability seen from the average value of the pretest and posttestresults, namely the pretest average value of 77.02 increased to 92.64 in the averagevalue. average posttest results. So it can be concluded that participants’ speakingskills can improve even if they do not use digital story telling (DST) strategies.2. Participants from the experimental class showed an increase in speaking abilityseen from the average value of the pretest and posttest results, namely the averagepretest value of 76.02, an increase in the average value of the posttest results to94.41. So it can be concluded that the digital story telling (DST) strategy can improveparticipants’ speaking skills. 3. The comparison of the posttest average value of theexperimental class and the control class using the Mann Whitbey test because thedata is not normally distributed, a significance value of 0.084 is obtained, which isgreater than 0.05, so there is no significant difference in learning outcomes betweenthe experimental class participants who learn to use a digital story telling (DST)strategy with control class participants who do not use this strategy. However, because the posttest average value of the experimental class was higher, the digitalstory telling (DST) strategy was more effective for the participants in this study.

Abstract

This study examines orthography errors in Arabic speech texts of fourth semester students of the Arabic Language Education Study Program at IAIN Palangka Raya, where not all students are able to correctly describe the sounds of the language into writing. Orthography is the specification of sounds in a language that is mapped or described from a particular writing, in this case, Arabic. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach by using primary data sources such as Arabic speech texts and secondary data from relevant literature. The data collection stage includes literature study, interviews, observation, and documentation, while data analysis uses orthographic methods with basic techniques (orthographic sorting technique) and advanced techniques (comparative linking technique). The results show that orthographic errors in Arabic script can be divided into two types: first, single errors which include the addition or subtraction of vowels and consonants, subtraction of consonant punctuation marks, and letter changes. Second, errors with two or more types. The factors underlying these errors include sociolinguistic and psycholinguistic aspects of IAIN Palangka Raya students.
