Abstract

Corn cobs are agricultural waste that is very widely available and has the potential to be developed as corn flour. This modified corn flour from corn cobs waste can be an alternative to flour in several flour-based processed products. The use of corn cobs, which so far has less economic value, is to conduct research to determine the quality content of corn flour and corn cobs, so it is necessary to characterize the quality of corn, especially microbial contamination based on the SNI standards that have been set. Methods: water content using gravimetric method, ash content using gravimetric method, microbial contamination test using ALT method of 25-250 colonies / gram counted and analysis of mold and E. coli bacteria. The results showed that the ash content was 0.0433%, 13.57% moisture content, 11.91% protein content, ALT 1.8 x 106, mold analysis of 4.3 x 102 cology / gram and analysis of E. coli bacteria amounting to 7.1 APM / g and B. subtilis amouting <1,0 x 102coloni/g.  So it can be concluded that corn cobs waste can be used as corn flour because it has fulfilled the SNI

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the countries with the fourth largest natural wealth in the world. The magnitude of the natural potential provides a great opportunity for scientists to develop it as a useful product for society. One of the medicinal plants that can be used is lime (C. aurantifolia). The purpose of this study was to determine the inhibition of lime peel extract (Citrus aurantifolia) against Bacillus cereus, Escherichia coli and mold bacteria using the coloni counter method. This research includes the extraction process of the maceration method then the extract obtained is tested for bacterial analysis using a colony counter. Based on the results of the research conducted, it can be concluded that lime peel extract (C. aurantifolia) has the ability to inhibit the growth of B. cereus and E.coli bacteria, respectively 0 APM/g and <3.0 APM/g. This is because there are bioactive compounds such as -pinene and D-limonene in lime peel extract (C. aurantifolia).

Abstract

The compliance test of X-ray beam quality using HVL parameter on digital mammography was determined at a hospital in Makassar in 2019-2021. This measurement uses a ruler, X-ray multimeter, and aluminum filter. The exposure process is carried out at certain kVp and mAs conditions after placing the detector on the examination table. The HVL test to determine the X-ray beam quality is carried out by placing the detector 4 cm from the edge of the chest wall on the patient's table in an upright position facing the tube. The resulting HVL values are 0.37, 0.37, and 0.38. This study resulted in a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). Statistically, there is a significant difference in HVL values in 2019-2021. The resulting HVL value is by the tolerance limit recommended by the IAEA, which is 0.31 ≤ HVL ≤ 0.58. These values indicate that mammography works well, and it is safe for the patient.

Abstract

Waxy corn is widely developed in several areas in South Sulawesi. From year to year the productivity of pulut corn has increased, this also shows that agricultural waste production has also increased. The agricultural waste produced by corn is cobs. The purpose of this study was to determine the processing of pulut corn cobs into corn flour and to determine the characterization of the quality of corn flour, especially the proximate test based on SNI standards. The research method is the gravimetric method, the results of the corn flour test show that the proximate content (moisture content, ash content, and protein content) with successive values of 0.07%, 17.49%, 1.9 x 106 has met the standard standards. Indonesian National (SNI) (SNI 01-3751-2009), except for moisture content with a value of 14.32% which indicates that corn flour has a short shelf life. Waxy corn is widely developed in several areas in South Sulawesi. Pulut corn contains 100% amylopectin which provides a sweet, fluffier taste and good texture.
