Abstract

This study explores the impact of minimum wages on the wages of construction workers in the informal sector. Using cross-sectional data consisting of 717 samples from 62 construction projects in 24 provinces in Indonesia, we uncover that the variation of construction worker wages across provinces follows the variation of minimum wages. On the demand variables, the magnitude of GDP and workers productivity in a province is not related to construction workers' earnings. While, on the supply side, the level of formality in a province shows a positive relation to construction workers' wages. In addition, the result also supports the previous literature that the nature of construction workers is moving from one project to another across cities as part-time workers. Lastly, another finding is that the base of estimation price in public procurement for the wage of construction workers is market wage.

Abstract

This article discusses the management of state-owned assets (BMN) in Indonesia, focusing on the strategies of the Ministry of Finance in optimizing asset use, managing office and residential areas, and establishing a corporate identity. The COVID-19 pandemic has prompted the Ministry of Finance to optimize the use of BMN by transforming the workspace from a cubicle model to an open space using the Activity Based Workplace (ABW) concept. This program aims to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of BMN management and create a more collaborative and productive work environment. In addition, the Ministry of Finance is also striving to meet the housing needs of Civil Servants (ASN) by building and renovating official houses and collaborating with various parties to provide decent housing. The enforcement of corporate identity through the standardization of BMN artefacts is expected to foster a sense of ownership of the organization, form a positive perception, nurture employee loyalty, foster spirit, and increase work productivity.

Abstract

The Domestic Component Level (TKDN) Program is one of Indonesia's strategies in advancing its domestic industry. This local product protection policy has been implemented by Indonesia since the beginning of independence and has continued to be refined during subsequent governments. Although the TKDN policy has not succeeded in making Indonesia an industrial country like Korea, Indonesia's TKDN practice has not caused market failure as happened in Brazil. Indonesia needs to complement the TKDN policy with other industrial strengthening programs, so that the domestic industry becomes stronger and becomes the main pillar of national economic growth.
