Abstract

Computer-based Test for assessment is a method of administering test in which the response is electronically assessed and recorded for accuracy. But users’ reaction to the CBT assessment mode differs. This study focused on stakeholders’ Sapience on the ease of use of Computer -Based Examination for assessment as well as the influence of gender on the Ease use of Computer-Based Test for Assessment. The study was a descriptive research of survey type. Random sampling technique was adopted to select 150 stakeholders for the study. Data were analyzed using frequency and percentages and t-test at 0.05 significant level. The findings from the study revealed that stakeholders have high sapience on the ease of use of CBT for assessment. Also, there was no significant difference between male and female stakeholders on the sapience on the ease of use of computer-based test. The study concluded that stakeholders’ sapience on ease of use of the Computer Based Test improved their digital and innovative skills. It was thus recommended among other that lecturer should be trained on the effective use for assessment. Keywords: Stakeholders, Sapience, Gender, Ease of Use, CBT, Assessment

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the extent at which undergraduate students use the internet for reading. The study specifically, (i) Examine the extent at which undergraduate students use the internet for reading, (ii) Investigate the difference on the extent of the use of internet for reading of male and female undergraduate students, (iii) Examine the difference of extent of the internet usage on reading of undergraduate students based on areas of specialization. The study was a descriptive research of survey type. A structured questionnaire designed by the researcher was used in data collection. A simple random sampling technique was used to select 150 respondents that were involved in this study from the University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria. Frequency count, mean and percentages were used to answer the research questions. Hypothesis one was tested with independent t-test while hypothesis two was tested using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). All hypothesis were tested at 0.05 level of significance. The findings established that Undergraduates always use the internet for reading online news, E books, Email, Health information, Jokes, Comic strips, Fashion, Food/Nutrition and Sales information. Also, there was no significant difference between the extent of the internet usage on reading of undergraduate students based on gender and areas of specialization. It was however recommended that there is a need for extensive training program organized at regular interval so that all categories of users can improve their efficiency in the use of the internet.

Abstract

The recent covid-19 crisis had made it mandatory for schools to introduce new learning styles. However, the extent at which students will adapt to this new learning environment could differ as most are just being exposed to this context. This study therefore investigated the adaptive level of students to the new learning methods. The population comprised all students in Nigeria out of which 2500 respondents were sampled across the schools in Nigeria based on their accessibility. A researcher-developed questionnaire was used to gather data for the study. All ethical issues were put into consideration as none of the respondents were cohersed to participate in this study. Means were used to answer the research questions while hypothesis one was tested using Man-U Whiteny at 0.05 significance level. The findings established that majority of the students initially find the distance education uneasy and data consuming. There was significant difference between public and private students’ adaptive level to the new learning methods. The study concluded that students are getting used to the new learning style introduced by their various schools because they have only that choice to learn with. It was therefore recommended that school administrators and teachers should continue encouraging students to use this learning style introduced as they may find it uneasy to use. The learning style adopted should also be such that attracts the learners’ attention.Keywords: COVID-19; students’ adaptive level; learning styles; resultant effect.
