Abstract

Characteristics of quality literary works must carry and convey moral messages. As a civilized citizen, the young generation — of course other citizens — must seize moral values in treading diverse lives. In this regard, literary engineering is an idea that should be taken into account as a form of literary approach in accordance with the mental development of the younger generation. How far is literary engineering capable as a new idea to introduce literature to the younger generation, that is the problem in this paper? This paper aims to describe and "sell" the role of literary literacy engineering to improve the literacy culture of the younger generation. The targets include the literary community and / or the community of young people, such as the youth organization, the literature literary forum, and the Student Council (intra-school student organization). This study used descriptive qualitative method. Based on the study of the theory of the younger generation (Stratus Howe) and the results of the analysis, this study shows that literary engineering can be used as a vehicle to improve literacy in the younger generation. Its activities can be in the form of literary rewriting in the form of student editions sourced from classical literary works such as Mahabharata, Ramayana, Siti Nurbaya novels, Salah Asuhan, or even folklore (folklore, folktale). These literary works can also be translated into literary / theater performances, soap operas, short stories, poems, or other forms. Conversely, the genre of poetry can also be "transformed" into other creative works in the form of poetry, fiction or literary / artistic performances. In addition, the work of teen literature is a way to familiarize literature with the younger generation. The success of the literacy movement is of course necessary and must be supported and collaborated with stakeholders, both government agencies, private institutions, art workers, parents, and / or literary practitioners. This literary or artistic activity is expected to be able to improve the literacy movement that is being promoted by the government as of now.

Abstract

Abstrak: Makalah ini, selain bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan problematika pembelajaran sastra, juga akan menawarkan solusi yang diharapkan dapat mengatasi permasalahan pembelajaran sastra Indonesia di sekolah dalam konteks global. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan metode kontekstual melalui studi kepustakaan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa hanya melalui upaya yang berkesinambungan problematika pembelajaran sastra dapat diwujudkan sebagai berikut. Siswa perlu dibimbing untuk mengenal sastra secara menyenangkan dan menanamkan kerinduan. Siswa membaca langsung karya sastra, bukan ringkasan atau resensi. Siswa diberi kebebasan menyampaikan aneka ragam tafsir dalam mendiskusikan karya sastra. Setiap pendapat atau prestasi karya siswa diberi penghargaan. Porsi apresiasi sastra harus diutamakan dalam pembelajaran sastra. Pengetahuan teori, definisi, dan sejarah sastra cukup ditampilkan sebagai informasi sekunder ketika membicarakan karya sastra. Keterampilan membaca dan menulis berhubungan erat dengan pembelajaran dalam mengapresisi sastra. Apresiasi sastra diawali dengan aktivitas membaca, sedangkan ekspresi sastra berkaitan dengan menulis karya sastra. Dengan demikian, pembinaan literasi melalui pembelajaran sastra dalam wujud kebiasaan membaca dan kemampuan menulis pada gilirannya mampu membentuk generasi tangguh dan dapat bersaing dalam kehidupan global yang beragam tantantangan. Abstract

Kaba is the legend of Minangkabau people as a folklore. It is a great literature in Minang and has an important role in Minangkabau society. Minang’s literature is dominant to show women’s profile. There is a relation with the kinship system which is adhered by the community. It puts matrilineal system which studied the existence of women’s profile. So, it is interesting to be examined. This research is descriptive study. It aims to describe  women’s profile in Kaba Anggun Nan Tungga especially in Minangkabau society system. This study uses the literature objective approach  related to female psychology theory, common psychology, and human philosophy. The women’s profile which is described in Kaba Rambun Pamenan shows that women’s figure personality generally determined and wise to face suffering in their life. They also a glorious aims to reach an ideal life.   Abstrak Karya sastra daerah Minangkabau cukup dominan menghadirkan tokoh perempuan. Bila dihubungkan dengan sistem kekerabatan yang dianut masyarakatnya, yakni matrilineal, maka sangat menarik untuk dikaji mengenai eksistensi tokoh perempuan. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan profil tokoh perempuan dalam Kaba Anggun Nan Tungga  terutama kepribadiannya dalam kehidupan Minangkabau. Penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif. Untuk melihat gambaran profil perempuan dalam penelitian ini digunakan pendekatan objektif sastra yang dikaitkan dengan teori psikologi perempuan, psikologi umum, dan filsafat manusia. Profil tokoh perempuan yang digambarkan dalam Kaba Rambun Pamenan menunjukkan bahwa kepribadian tokoh perempuan pada umumnya tabah, cenderung arif menghadapi penderitaan hidup dan mempunyai cita-cita yang luhur untuk menuju kehidupan yang ideal.
