Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menggambarkan berbagai konsep yang muncul berkaitan dengan penggunaan kata wanita dan perempuan pada judul berita di media daring dan mengukur frekuensi kemunculannya.  Data dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 120 judul berita yang berasal dari 6 media daring.  Data dianalisis secara kualitatif dan kuantitatif dengan menggunakan teori semantik konseptual.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa baik kata perempuan maupun wanita, keduanya sama-sama dapat berada dalam satu konsep yang sama.  Namun, dari segi ranah penggunaannya, kedua kata tersebut tidak selalu berada dalam ranah yang sama. Sementara itu, berdasarkan frekuensi kemunculannya. Secara keseluruhan frekuensi yang paling tinggi ada pada judul berita yang berkaitan dengan konsep perempuan atau wanita sebagai korban dari suatu peristiwa, yakni 50% untuk frekuensi penggunaan kata perempuan dan 48,3% untuk frekuensi penggunaan kata wanita.  Tingginya frekuensi kemunculan kata perempuan dan wanita pada konsep ini tidak terlepas dari keberadaan media sebagai cermin dari realitas sosial yang terjadi di masyarakat. Maraknya tindak kekerasan yang melibatkan perempuan atau wanita menjadikan sosok tersebut seringkali menjadi objek pemberitaan di berbagai media, termasuk media daring.This study aims to describe several concepts that come up and have connection with the using of wanita (woman) and perempuan (woman) in online media head.lines and measure the frequency in which they occur. The data in this study are 120 news headlines from 6 online media. The data are analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively by using conceptual semantic theory. The result shows that the words perempuan and wanita in online media headlines are in the same concept. However, from the realm of their use, both of those words are not always in the same realm. Meanwhile, based on the frequency of occurrence, in overall the highest frequency is found in the news headlines related to the concept of perempuan or wanita as a victim of an event, that is 50% for the frequency of using the words perempuan and 48,3% for the frequency of using the words wanita. The high frequency of occurrence the word perempuan and wanita in this concept is inseparable from the existence of media as a reflection of social reality that occurs in society.  The rising act of violence involving perempuan or wanita often make this figure becomes the object of news in various media, including online media.

Abstract

This study discusses the influence of stream as the toponymy creator of village in Banjarmasin City and Banjar Regency. This study aims to (a) describe various forms of lexicons related stream and elements that can unite stream in forming village stream toponymy in Banjarmasin City and Banjar Regencies; (b) describe the interaction that occur between the natural environment and language in forming village toponymy in Banjarmasin City and Banjar Regency. This study uses qualitative methods and ecolinguistic approach. The results of the study show that there are various lexicons associated with stream that are used as forming toponymy, they are sungai, riam, antasan, handil, and tatah. Meanwhile, judging from the merging pattern, there are various elements that can unite the lexicon which is related to the stream, flow of water, including plants, animals, colors, professions / jobs, and so on. The interaction which is happened between nature and language has big influence toward toponymy of the village in both territory.

Abstract

This study aims to (1) classify several terms in diamond mining lexicon in Banjar community; (2) describe cultural value in diamond mining lexicon in Banjar community. The data in this study are various form of terms related to diamond mining culture in the Banjar community. The method used in this study is qualitative method. The results shows that based on its form, the terms in diamond mining lexicon can be classified from the using of the tools, the application of the techniques, and the designation of the people involved in diamond mining. Meanwhile, the universal cultural values that emerge in diamond mining lexicon are  the harmonization with the environment, the awareness at work, creative, persistence, and the spirit of mutual cooperation. Those cultural values are formed from the results of interactions between humans, and interactions between humans and nature.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to describe variety of language choices on outdoors advertising in Banjarmasin and various factors causing the emergence of variety of language choices. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. Advertisement language is different from language in scientific work. Advertisement language is short and easy to understand. The result shows that there are four varieties of language choices on outdoors advertising in Banjarmasin, namely (a) Indonesian language advertisement; (b) foreign language advertisement; (c) variety of local language adertisement; (d) mixed language advertisement. Meanwhile, there are six causes behind the emergence of variety of language choices on outdoors advertising in Banjarmasin, namely (a) the efforts to build closeness between advertisers and potential customers; (b) the effort to attract potential customers; (c) the effort to build a product image; (d) the use of foreign terms to be considered more concise than their counterparts in Indonesian language; (e) the advertiser selects a particular word to represent the product; and (f) the advertiser does not know or less attention about the indonesianizing foreign terms.
