Abstract

This article presents an analysis of a Korean folktale, Kongjee-Patjee. The theory used in this paper to analyze the folktale is the concept of Binary Opposition. In addition, Vladimir Propp’s approach toward folk tales is also used to analyze the meaning of symbols and the roles of characters in the story, and the position of this folk tale in Korean society. The differences and similarities of the Kongjee-Patjee story from other folk tales are discussed. Attempts are also made to analyze the meanings of the symbols in the story by analyzing the animal characters and their roles within Korean society and examine these animal symbols in understanding the culture of the Koreans. The contradiction between the protagonist and the antagonist also attracts our attention to look at the construction of the story and the messages in the story.

Abstract

Mochtar Lubis merupakan tokoh yang selalu gigih memperjuangkan kebenaran, keadilan, kebebasan berpendapat, dan nasib rakyat. Hal itu terlihat dari berbagai aktivitasnya sebagai sastrawan dan wartawan. Dalam setiap karya sastranya, Mochtar Lubis seolah-olah menyatakan dengan jelas pemikirannya. Dengan mengamati hubungan antarteks (intertekstualitas) di dalam karya-karya Mochtar Lubis, dapat dijalin benang merah mengenai persoalan yang selalu didengungkan oleh sastrawan itu dari satu karya ke karya yang lain, seperti ketakutan manusia dan dekadensi moral manusia.

Abstract

he Covid-19 pandemic has had a big impact on various fields of life, including terms habituation of religious teachings to Islamic children in minority areas. In this article, we discuss the comparison of the habituation of religious teachings in Muslim children who came from Indonesia and lived in Korea before and during the Covid-19 pandemic. The research was conducted using qualitative methods in the context of studying religious education and society. The research subjects are Indonesian Muslim families in Korea who have school-age children and attend Korean public schools. The object of research is about religious habituation towards religion before and during the Covid-19 pandemic, namely in the 2020-2021 timeframe. The results showed that there was an increase in the quantity and quality of habituation of religious teachings in Muslim children from Indonesia living in Korea. The increase was obtained from a comparison before and when the Covid-19 pandemic took place. This is due to school policies at home, social distancing, and a ban on feeding in schools during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

In this article, the problems and challenges of children from multicultural families in South Korea are described. The research subjects were the children (preschool-elementary school ages) from multicultural families (Korean and Indonesian) who settled in Korea. The objects of this qualitative study are the problems and challenges that they face. The data obtained are described and analyzed and then presented with descriptive methods. The problems faced by the children of multicultural families are generally more to the Indonesian culture. They almost did not get the problems with the Korean social and culture life because they grow and develop in Korean social society and culture. They can overcome some of the differences and difficulties with the help of social institutions provided by the Korean government for multicultural families. Thus, the challenge that they face is to equally understand both of their background cultures, the Korean and Indonesian.Key words: children of multicultural families, Korea, IndonesiaABSTRAK Dalam artikel ini, dideskripsikan mengenai masalah dan tantangan anak-anak dari keluarga multikultural di Korea Selatan. Subjek penelitian adalah anak-anak (usia prasekolah—sekolah dasar) dari keluarga multikural (Korea dan Indonesia) yang menetap di Korea. Objek penelitian kualitatif ini adalah masalah dan tantangan yang mereka hadapi. Data yang didapatkan dideskripsikan dan dianalisis kemudian disampaikan dengan metode deksriptif. Permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh anak-anak dari keluarga multikultural tersebut umumnya lebih kepada budaya Indonesia. Mereka hampir tidak mendapatkan masalah dengan kehidupan sosial budaya Korea karena tumbuh dan berkembang dalam masyarakat sosial dan kebudayaan Korea. Beberapa perbedaan dan kesulitan dapat mereka atasi dengan bantuan lembaga sosial yang disediakan oleh pemerintah Korea untuk keluarga multikultural. Dengan demikian, tantangan yang mereka hadapi adalah memahami dua budaya yang melatarbelakangi mereka, yaitu budaya Korea dan Indonesia secara seimbang.Kata kunci: anak-anak keluarga multikultural, Korea, Indonesia
