Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the use of the structure of the job application letter text and describe the use of linguistic elements of the job application letter text for class XII students of SMA Negeri 3 Painan. This type of research is qualitative using descriptive methods. The data of this study is the structure and linguistic elements of the text of the job application letter for class XII students of SMA Negeri 3 Painan. The source of this research data is the text of the job application letter for class XII students of SMA Negeri 3 Painan, which amounts to twenty texts of job application letters. This instrument is a test. Data is analyzed by describing, analyzing, and discussing data based on theory. The theory used is the theory of structure and linguistic elements of the text of a job cover letter. The result of this study is First, the structure of the text of the job application letter written by class XII students of SMA Negeri 3 Painan is still incorrect in writing. Second, the language of the text of the job application letter written by class XII students of SMA Negeri 3 Painan for the use of spelling and effective sentences is appropriate, but for the use of spellings and effective sentences there are still some that are not appropriate.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills of each student significantly influence their cognitive development and adaptability. However, many students still exhibit low levels of critical thinking, which requires immediate attention. This study aims to improve students' critical thinking skills through the implementation of a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model supported by Pop-Up Book media in Grade X Phase Eat SMAN 1 Padang. This research is classroom action research (CAR). The instructional interventions were delivered by the teacher or conducted by students under the teacher's guidance. The teacher reported on students' learning processes, observed student behavior and engagement, analyzed the outcomes, recorded findings, facilitated peer discussions, and guided class presentations. The classroom action research followed a cyclical model consisting of four main stages: action planning (pre-intervention), action implementation, observation, and reflection. This study was conducted over two cycles, with each cycle consisting of two sessions. Each cycle included the same four phases: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. In the first cycle, despite some challenges, the implemented learning model demonstrated visible progress. The class average score increased from 47.19 in the pretest to 77.09 after the first cycle, and further improved to 80 in the second cycle. These results indicate that the Problem-Based Learning model supported by Pop-Up Book media had a positive impact on students' critical thinking skills and learning outcomes. Overall, the study concludes that the application of Problem-Based Learning supported by Pop-Up Book media effectively enhanced students' academic achievement at SMAN 1 Padang.

Abstract

Ketersediaan informasi wilayah yang akurat merupakan faktor penting dalam mendukung perencanaan pembangunan dan pengelolaan administrasi di tingkat nagari. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperkuat informasi wilayah melalui pemetaan batas dan fasilitas jorong di Nagari Balai Panjang, Kecamatan Lareh Sago Halaban, Kabupaten Lima Puluh Kota dengan pendekatan partisipasi masyarakat. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan partisipatif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi lapangan, wawancara, dokumentasi, dan pemetaan partisipatif yang melibatkan perangkat nagari, kepala jorong, dan masyarakat setempat. Data yang diperoleh kemudian diolah menggunakan Sistem Informasi Geografis (SIG) untuk menghasilkan peta administrasi dan persebaran fasilitas wilayah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemetaan berhasil mengidentifikasi batas administrasi nagari dan jorong secara lebih jelas serta menginventarisasi berbagai fasilitas umum yang meliputi fasilitas pemerintahan, pendidikan, kesehatan, keagamaan, ekonomi, sosial, dan potensi wilayah. Peta yang dihasilkan mampu menyajikan informasi spasial secara visual sehingga memudahkan pemahaman mengenai kondisi wilayah dan persebaran fasilitas. Selain itu, keterlibatan masyarakat dalam proses pemetaan meningkatkan akurasi data serta memperkuat rasa memiliki terhadap informasi wilayah yang dihasilkan. Dengan demikian, pemetaan batas dan fasilitas jorong berbasis partisipasi masyarakat dapat menjadi media yang efektif dalam penguatan informasi wilayah dan mendukung perencanaan pembangunan yang lebih terarah, transparan, dan berkelanjutan di Nagari Balai Panjang.
